With “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” ending, radio industry experts are now looking for the next big team to take its place.
It seems like all eyes are now on Loren Barry and Nic Kelly, the hosts of the popular nightly show, The Hot Hits, on the Hit Network.
As someone who really enjoyed listening to Kyle and Jackie back when they were on 2DayFM, I’ve been following Barry and Kelly closely. And honestly, having seen what Craig Bruce – the program director back then – thinks, I completely agree with him. He believes they have huge potential, and I do too! I think they’re going to be massive.
‘It is a brilliant show,’ Bruce told news.com.au this week.
Nic and Loren have a real connection, and it shows. They’re both great at communicating, and their love for the music is clear whenever they perform.
People are discussing the popular interviewers known for their candid conversations and warm personalities, and their upcoming move from hosting a show in the evening to doing one in the morning.
Bruce believes Southern Cross Media, the company behind the Hit Network, will likely support the show’s development, and sees potential for it to move to an earlier time slot down the line.
Jackie Henderson and Kyle Sandilands are still dealing with fallout from their show ending last month.
After a very public and messy breakup during a live radio show, Henderson has reportedly cut ties with her former co-star, Sandilands, and refuses to work with him again, as revealed in recently surfaced legal documents.
These letters were among documents made public by the Federal Court on Friday as part of Kyle Sandilands’ legal case against ARN Media, the company that owns KIIS FM, regarding the end of his $100 million contract.
ARN cancelled the agreement following a segment on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on February 20th, where Sandilands criticized Henderson for being overly focused on astrology.
Upset and believing she was treated unfairly, Henderson left the studio crying, and subsequently lost her $100 million contract. She hasn’t taken any legal action.
Kyle Sandilands is suing his former employer, ARN, for $88 million in a case that started in federal court on Friday.
As a long-time listener, I was really shocked to hear about Kyle Sandilands being taken off the KIIS FM show. Apparently, things got pretty heated between him and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on air on February 20th, and it led to him being suspended for some serious issues before ultimately being let go. It’s all been a bit of a whirlwind, honestly.
People familiar with the situation say Sandilands wants to settle the case quickly because he has a mortgage on his expensive $14 million home in Vaucluse, Sydney.
Sandilands is seeking the remaining $85 to $88 million on his ARN contract in the proceedings.
Sandilands appeared at the Federal Court on Friday for a directions hearing.
Okay, so this is HUGE! He’s saying they fired him for absolutely no good reason – like, no serious offense or anything! And get this, he’s claiming it’s actually illegal under Australian law. He’s totally fighting back, and honestly, good for him! It’s like they just decided to get rid of him, and he’s not letting them get away with it. I’m so invested in this, it’s ridiculous!
The matter will return to court on April 24.
Since January 2004, Sandilands has been a co-host of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, which began on 2Day FM and later moved to KIIS FM after ten years.
