Strictly’s Toyah Willcox defiantly says she will ‘prove doubters wrong’ after beating Olympian Tom Dean in a tense dance off

Strictly's Toyah Willcox defiantly says she will 'prove doubters wrong' after beating Olympian Tom Dean in a tense dance off

As a dedicated follower and long-time admirer of Toyah Willcox, I must say that her spirit and determination are truly inspiring. At 66 years old, she has shown the world once again that age is just a number and that one should never let anyone doubt their abilities. Her defiance in the face of criticism from younger viewers, who may not know her full strength, is commendable.

Toyah Willcox confidently declared that she would “demonstrate the skeptics” incorrect by triumphing over Olympic swimmer Tom Dean in a thrilling dance-off on Strictly Come Dancing.

66-year-old singer defended herself against young viewers who thought she seemed very old, stating that her behavior doesn’t align with such perceptions and emphasizing her strength.

Over the past weekend, it was Tom who was eliminated as the initial contender from the program, while Toyah and her dance partner Neil Jones were spared by the judges’ decision.

In conversation with The Sun, she clarified, “The reaction was utterly surprising. Tom may be an Olympian, yet in a dance competition, I’ll put up my top game against any contender.

‘They see someone small in stature, around 66 years old. This person might be the same age as their mother or even older, like a grandmother. While I realize young people may view me as very old, I don’t act that way.’

Toyah remarked: ‘It’s intriguing to me that some young people might not recognize me, as it suggests they may be unaware of my strength.’

In another conversation, she shared with The Mail on Sunday that her rigorous Strictly workout routine has led to a reduction in her breast size, and her husband, Robert Fripp (age 78), is deeply troubled by this change.

Additionally, Toyah shared that she’s shed approximately 7 lbs (half a stone) due to her difficulty consuming enough food to compensate for the energy she’s expending.

She told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I just can’t eat enough to keep the weight on.

‘Robert is extremely concerned that the upper part of my body seems to have vanished entirely. It’s now gone. Despite not having much in that area, I still feel fantastic about myself.’

Toyah Wilcox, who has been married to musician Fripp since 1986, is the oldest participant in this season’s Strictly Come Dancing competition. Last week, she performed a jive to “Nutbush City Limits” by Ike & Tina Turner.

She said that he has joined in the Strictly fun with her and Neil, who has visited their home.

However, she acknowledged that due to her hectic routine, she’s been having trouble setting aside time to prepare his meals. As a result, he’s taking over the cooking duties now.

She said: ‘He is loving being part of it, he has fallen in love with the show. He’s cooking for himself which is a major achievement in 38 years of marriage.’

This year’s Strictly competition has fewer female participants – six compared to nine males – due to a series of scandals involving alleged bullying. Amanda Abbington accused Giovanni Pernice of bullying, and Graziano Di Prima was involved in an incident where he kicked his partner, Zara McDermott.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I found myself delving deeper into contemplation upon hearing the recent allegations. I began to ponder over how my journey within the program might unfold.

When questioned about the recent allegations of serious misbehavior regarding the program, The It’s A Mystery singer responded by saying: ‘These claims have caused me to carefully consider the situation.’

‘What’s happened in the last year is because this show is one hundred percent committed to dance.’

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but emphasize that stepping out of your cozy bubble is a must, and this fact has always been crystal clear to me.

As someone deeply committed, I’ve been reflecting on my journey this year. I find myself pondering, could I challenge and surpass the boundaries I’ve set for myself?

She concluded: ‘And for me, it’s now or never. Simple as that. That is what has made me commit to the show.’
