Horse who led Queen Elizabeth’s coffin given high honor for animals
As a long-time admirer of the grandeur and tradition that surrounds the British monarchy, I must say, the recent recognition bestowed upon Lord Firebrand, affectionately known as Yogi, is nothing short of heartwarming. Having attended numerous royal events over the years, I’ve witnessed the invaluable role working horses like him play in maintaining the dignity and solemnity that characterizes these ceremonies.
Merits are still rolling in for the fantastic service held to memorialize Queen Elizabeth.
A recent BBC report reveals that Lord Firebrand, or Yogi, has been bestowed with the PDSA Order of Merit, an honor akin to the animal world’s OBE. This distinguished award is in recognition of his significant contributions during Queen Elizabeth’s lying in state and other significant royal events. In essence, this high accolade represents one of the most prestigious honors Yogi may ever receive.
Lord Firebrand has the best resume in the business
The horse depicted here isn’t Lord Firebrand, but he exemplifies the daily service that working horses provide for their country. Typically, they participate in ceremonial events, either transporting important items or offering emotional comfort. It was this latter skill that earned Lord Firebrand his greatest accolade during his career, and those who spoke on his behalf could only praise him highly. The equine in question, of course.
Experts from the PDSA noted that Lord Firebrand’s calm demeanor makes him a highly sought-after working horse in his field. His tranquil disposition allows him to excel in Parliamentary ceremonies, state visits, jubilee events, and prestigious parades. It appears Yogi won’t be retiring for the foreseeable future, making it exciting for those with connections who wish to engage this elite equine performer!
Although this tale is captivating, it serves as a poignant reminder that our beloved Queen has passed away. Not long ago, King Charles delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on his mother’s final moments before she departed. Devotees of the Royal Family are acutely aware of the profound void left by her absence. Yet, it is evident that the tribute held in her honor was meticulously planned with affection and reverence.
