Garth Brooks pictured hand-in-hand with wife Trisha Yearwood days before sexual battery lawsuit
As a seasoned journalist with years of experience reporting on high-profile cases, I must say that this situation between the makeup artist and Garth Brooks is quite intriguing. It seems like a classic case of he said, she said, with each party presenting their version of events.
A few days prior to facing sexual assault accusations by his makeup artist on Thursday, Garth Brooks posted a touching picture of himself holding hands with his spouse, Trisha Yearwood.
Yesterday, the 62-year-old nation music icon shared an image on Instagram, depicting them working with a friend, Jimmy Carter, as volunteers for Habitat for Humanity in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Casually dressed and with a tool bag in hand, the composer of “Friends in Low Places” warmly held the hand of the 60-year-old Grammy award-winner as they strolled side by side through the construction site.
Brooks posted this photo, saying ‘We arrive to get the job done, but what we all take away is SO much more.’ He’s starting the construction for the Habitat for Humanity Carter Work project in 2024. As they say, home is a key that never stops opening new doors! To everyone joining us on this journey, today was an exceptional first day. Sincerely, g & TY #carterworkproject
A day following the posting of a Habitat for Humanity picture, Brooks spoke about Carter’s 77-year marriage to his late wife Rosalynn in an interview and likened his own relationship with Yearwood to the “most remarkable love tale.
He shared with Parade that his admiration for the Carters, whether it’s about relationships or anything else, is enormous. He then gestured towards himself and Yearwood, adding, “However, when it comes to love, their story stands as the most remarkable love tale ever written in the annals of our planet.
It’s always pleasant to come across someone who may have the fortune to experience the same shared interest.
On Friday, Garth denied the rape accusations against him, branding it a ‘hush money’ shakedown.
He responded to the accusations in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.’
As a seasoned investigator who has seen the darkest corners of humanity, I can confidently assert that hush money, regardless of its amount, remains nothing more than a tainted bribe. It is a payment made to keep silent about actions that are abhorrent and unforgivable, acts that no person, let alone a human being, should ever inflict upon another.
As a fervent admirer, let me rephrase that for you: “Initially refuting allegations made by ‘John Doe’ in a grievance, I now share that we instigated legal action against this individual almost a month ago. The purpose was to stand up against blackmail and character assassination. We chose anonymity during the filing process, out of respect for the families involved on both sides.
The musician said the situation ‘has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.’
He stated, “I’m planning to play some music this evening. I aim to keep up our charitable acts in the future. It saddens me deeply that these wonderful things are being challenged now. I put my trust in the system, I am not afraid of truth, and I am not the person they have portrayed as myself.
The anonymous plaintiff, known as ‘Jane Roe,’ claims that the country musician took her to Los Angeles with him for a Grammy celebration honoring the R&B artist Sam Moore in May of 2019.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff asserts that the performer known for “Friends in Low Places” had reserved just one hotel suite for the two of them. When she requested individual lodgings, however, he failed to provide it.
In legal records acquired by Dailymail.com, she claims he forced entry upon her in a doorway while he was naked, dragged her into another room, suspended her upside-down by her feet, and sexually assaulted her.
Prior to the makeup artist’s legal action against him, Brooks had already become informed about her accusations. In response, he chose to counterattack anonymously, using the pseudonym ‘John Doe’, as per a report from CNN.
In 1999, Jane Roe initially began working on Yearwood’s hair and makeup, and later, in 2017, Brooks requested her services as well, according to her statement.
The makeup artist claims in her recent lawsuit that Brooks frequently sent her suggestive text messages containing sexual content, shared details of his sexual desires, and engaged her in conversations about intimate topics related to sex.
Additionally, she alleges that he exposed his lower backside and private areas to her multiple times and frequently changed his clothing while she was present.
The makeup artist claims that Brooks is said to have made unwanted advances towards her at his house back in 2019, which was prior to their trip to Los Angeles where she alleged the rape took place.
According to her account, she asserted that she had been at Brooks’ residence, anticipating their meeting there so she could do his makeup. However, as she waited, Brooks unexpectedly appeared from the shower, completely nude and aroused.
She claims that afterwards, he took hold of her hands and compelled them towards his arousal, informing her that he had imagined her giving him oral sex while wearing her spectacles, and that this act would culminate in him ejaculating on her face.
In the same year, I found myself traveling to Los Angeles with Brooks for his performance at the Sam Moore tribute. Regrettably, I was compelled to accuse him of rape at a later point in time.
In her court case, Jane Roe asserts that she usually didn’t journey with Brooks separately, however, their trip to Los Angeles was a rare exception.
Typically, there would be other people on Brooks’ private jet, but this occasion was different as only Brooks and Ms. Roe were traveling together, the document states. Upon their arrival in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe was astonished to find that Brooks had reserved a suite with one bedroom, and she was not provided with a separate room for herself.
As a lifestyle expert, I might rephrase it like this: I made clear my concerns about the shared living situation and requested a private space, but unfortunately, my partner was unwilling to compromise on this point.
In the hotel, according to her, he ostensibly entered the doorway of the bedroom, entirely devoid of clothing. This left her feeling isolated and trapped within the room, in the company of Brooks.
The individual alleged to stand at around 5 feet tall asserts that he picked her up by the ankles and turned her upside-down before perpetrating a sexual assault against her, specifically vaginal rape.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share this shocking revelation: In court documents, the makeup artist claims that Brooks forcefully shoved himself upon her with such intensity, it felt like I was shattering into pieces.
Throughout the journey, she persisted in styling his hair and applying makeup, as she found it necessary due to her financial hardships. She openly stated this. Moreover, she claimed that Brooks took advantage of her predicament in an unscrupulous manner.
She claims that Brooks inappropriately touched her breasts during the time she was applying makeup to him, despite her explicitly asking him not to, and further alleges that he later masturbated after she had finished her makeup application.
In her court case, the makeup artist asserts that following the alleged incident of assault, Brooks persistently touched her inappropriately and shared his sexual thoughts with her more frequently than before.
According to the plaintiff, Brooks is alleged to have frequently mentioned the idea of a threesome involving himself, Yearwood, and the makeup artist.
In legal records, the plaintiff stated that she had disagreements with the individual from Tulas, Oklahoma, concerning an occurrence in May 2020. During this incident, he discussed with her, Yearwood, and his manager the concept of creating a shampoo bottle designed to serve as a sexual aid.
Brooks appeared clearly angry as she chose not to respond to the conversation that had a sexual undertone, the complainant stated.
She said she sent him notices via text and email that she could not ‘work in an environment where explicitly sexual comments are made about shampoo bottles doubling as dildos.’
In response, Brooks stated that the plaintiff was worrying excessively about the matter and that Yearwood was not bothered by the tone of the conversation, as the plaintiff claimed in court documents.
In legal documents, the plaintiff stated that during an event in 2020, Brooks seized her phone and erased the majority of texts he had sent to her while they were collaborating at a studio together.
Back in September, just prior to bringing legal action against him, I secretly lodged a document with the Federal Court in Mississippi – all in an attempt to silence my allegations. According to CNN, that’s how it went down.
In a statement, he referred to himself as “a well-known individual based in Tennessee” and denied the ‘unfounded accusations’ made against him by the makeup artist.
He claimed that she previously asked him for ‘salaried employment and medical benefits,’ and after he refused, her attorney sent him a ‘confidential’ demand letter containing accusations of sexual misconduct.
In his legal submission, Brooks requested the court to formally state that the makeup artist’s claims were unfounded, and to prohibit her from disseminating them any more publicly.
He firmly asserted that the defendant’s accusations are false. It’s important for him to clarify that the defendant is conscious of the significant, permanent harm such unfounded claims could cause to the plaintiff’s hard-won reputation as an honorable and compassionate individual. Additionally, he emphasized that these baseless allegations would inevitably tarnish his family’s standing and irreparably damage both his career and livelihood if the defendant follows through with her promise to publicly file a fictitious lawsuit.
This week, the attorney for the makeup artist filed a counterargument in response to Brooks’ submission, claiming that, due to the allegations of being a ‘supposed serial sexual assaulter’, he should not be granted anonymity.
In this case brief, it is stated that Mr. Doe asserts he deserves equal protection afforded to victims, not for the sake of avoiding additional distress, but rather to safeguard his public image or reputation. The civil court system, we understand, is established primarily to settle disagreements and offer remedy to those who have been wronged.
The gist of the passage is: ‘The idea is that everyone should have a fair chance. The system shouldn’t give wealthy offenders a way to bypass justice for those who seek to bring sexual assaulters to account. This is what Mr. Doe is asking the court to assist him in achieving.’
The attorney representing the makeup artist has released a statement claiming that Brooks’ move to file a pre-emptive lawsuit in Mississippi was merely a desperate attempt at silencing their client through intimidation.
I commend my client for standing up to what she experienced with Garth Brooks. Today’s filed complaint serves as a reminder that power misuse and abuse are unfortunately present not just in corporate spheres, the entertainment industry, or popular genres like rap, rock, and roll, but also within the country music scene.
