Anna Maxwell-Martin reveals her weird food phobia and how she has to beg other actors to keep the dish away from set

As a dedicated follower of the arts and a self-proclaimed connoisseur of British television, I must say that Anna Maxwell-Martin‘s food phobias and striking transformations never fail to intrigue me. Her ability to immerse herself into her roles, even down to the smallest details like avoiding sandwiches on set, is truly remarkable.

Anna Maxwell-Martin has disclosed an unusual aversion to certain foods, requiring her to ask fellow actors to avoid bringing them on set.

The Line Of Duty star, 47, can’t bear to be around sandwiches, mayonnaise – and even open fridges.

She has blamed the food phobia on being ‘sick, sick, sick as a dog’ during her pregnancies with her two daughters, as well as her exacting standards for fridges which mean she can rule out an entire hotel room if the fridge gives her the ick.

If sandwiches appear on a film set, it’s challenging for me to not react strongly when I hear that word. In fact, I would probably ask them to be removed, as shared with The Sun, Anna confessed about her dislike of sandwiches.

‘Sorry other actors, you’re not eating. Or if you want to eat, step outside – but not in here.’

She added: ‘I was on a train yesterday with sandwiches and it was a nightmare.’

Anna underwent a striking new look in David Mitchell’s new BBC comedy Ludwig.

In the comedy, she takes on the role of Lucy Betts-Taylor, with David playing a part too, along with the well-known Rose Ayling-Ellis.

29-year-old Rose, who’s both a past Strictly Come Dancing champion and an ex-EastEnders actor, is set to feature as Freya Chordwell in the upcoming series.

Rose transformed so much that she was nearly unnoticeable when she donned a long-sleeve blue jacket and spotted dress.

In the meantime, actress Anna from Motherland changed her long blonde hair into a short brunette bob and opted for less makeup.

David’s character, John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor, experiences a complete change in his life after his identical brother, James, vanishes mysteriously with no sign of whereabouts.

Ludwig assumes control of his brother’s identity, embarking on a mission to discover his whereabouts.

In contrast to Ludwig, it’s James who is deeply committed to family life and holds a esteemed position as a Detective Chief Inspector within the Major Investigations Team of Cambridge.

But will Ludwig be able to fill James’ shoes and find him all at the same time?

Anna is starring as Ludwig’s sister-in-law and wife of his missing brother James.

Among the star-studded cast gracing the screens in this series are Derek Jacobi, Felicity Kendal, Rose, Karl Pilkington, Allan Mustafa, Paul Chahidi, and Hammed Animashaun.

The six-part 60 minute-episode series is due to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the Autumn.

Stars like Dipo Ola, Gerran Howell, Izuka Hoyle, Dylan Hughes, Dorothy Atkinson, Sophie Willan, and Ralph Ineson also make appearances in the series.

Ludwig is a television show produced by Big Talk Studios, in collaboration with The Mitchell and Webb Company, and broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The piece was developed under the supervision of Jon Petrie, who held the position of Comedy Commissioning Director at the BBC, and was both written and conceived by Mark Brotherhood.

The individuals responsible for overseeing the production of this gritty drama are Kenton Allen, Mark Brotherhood, Saurabh Kakkar, David Mitchell, Kathryn O’Connor, and Chris Sussman; Georgie Fallon serves as the individual in charge of the day-to-day production.

The show is made in collaboration with ITV Studios, responsible for worldwide distribution of the series.
