Companion invites viewers to experience a twisted love story in teaser trailer
As a seasoned horror enthusiast who’s seen more than my fair share of twisted love stories, I can confidently say that “Companion” is shaping up to be a chilling masterpiece. The teaser alone has already piqued my curiosity and left me eagerly anticipating the film’s release.
The forthcoming movie, titled “Companion“, is billed as a unique take on love stories. With an impressive ensemble cast including Sophie Thatcher from “Yellowjackets“, Lukas Gage of “Smile 2“, and Jack Quaid known for his role in “The Boys“, this science fiction thriller promises to be highly engaging.
January promises an exciting time for horror enthusiasts, as the movies “Companion” and Stephen Soderbergh’s spine-tingling film “Presence” are set to hit the screens within a week of each other. While “Presence” appears to be a traditional ghost story (though seen through the eyes of the spirit), “Companion” offers a more distinctive perspective with a dark, twisted love story at its core.
From the teaser trailer, it seems that neither the plot nor specific details have been disclosed yet. However, we can infer from what we see that Quaid and Gage’s characters may be collaborating in a suspicious scheme involving kidnapping women for strange dates. The scene where Gage is depicted punching a police officer and later disguised as one hints at his involvement with Quaid’s character, who appears to have a psychopathic inclination. Furthermore, Thatcher portrays a woman initially seen on a date with Quaid, but the camera later reveals her handcuffed in a chair, suggesting she may be entangled in this questionable relationship.
The series “Companion” is also being created by Zach Cregger, the screenwriter and director of “Barbarian“. This suggests there may be numerous unexpected twists and turns that are difficult to predict from a single trailer alone.
Originally, I was all set to dive into “Companion” as my next project, following the success of another work. However, a shift in direction led me to tackle the chilling horror film “Weapons.” Yet, the concept for “Companion” truly appealed to me, so I decided to step up and produce it instead. With my help, the project evolved, and eventually, it was given the green light to move forward.
Apart from that, he also supported Drew Hancock in his role as both writer and director. Notably, “Companion” will be Hancock’s first feature film directing project. In the past, his writing talents have been showcased on series such as “Suburgatory,” “Faking It,” and “Blue Mountain State.
In addition to the teaser, there’s also a new poster that you can check out below.
Companion is being released theatrically on January 10, 2025.
