Abruptio is FINALLY in theaters, and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray soon

As a horror enthusiast with over two decades of film-watching under my belt (and a few gray hairs to prove it), I can confidently say that Abruptio is a must-see for any fan of unique and chilling cinematic experiences. Having had the privilege of watching it when it first premiered, I was immediately captivated by its intricate plot, eerie atmosphere, and exceptional performances – even though they were delivered by some familiar voices rather than faces.

If you’ve come across any information about the movie “Abruptio“, it’s likely been favorable, and you might have pondered over its absence in cinemas or streaming platforms. However, that situation is about to change, which is fantastic news if you appreciate distinct horror films.

In 2023, the film “Abruptio” made its debut and graced 37 international film festivals, raking in a total of 21 awards. I was fortunate to get a screening of it then, and I must say, I was thoroughly captivated by it. However, don’t just take my word for it. My colleague Brian Fanelli recently got a chance to watch “Abruptio” as well, and he too shared glowing praises for the film.

The movie titled “Abruptio” debuted in selected theaters on September 27, and it’s expected to play until at least mid-October. Fingers crossed, it will be shown in additional theaters as well because it’s a film that truly merits a big-screen viewing experience.

In the press release, it’s explained that “Les Hackel” is a man who finds himself in a tough spot when he wakes up with an explosive device implanted in his neck. To survive, he’s forced to perform despicable acts while simultaneously trying to uncover the puppet master manipulating the world around him, which has become twisted and bizarre as a result.

Abruptio is FINALLY in theaters, and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray soon

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “In an unexpected twist, ‘Abruptio’ stands out by showcasing familiar faces, but only through their voices. It’s not an animated flick, mind you. Instead, the ensemble brings life to remarkably realistic puppets that might give you a chill down your spine. However, don’t let your kids watch it – this movie isn’t for the faint-hearted. With moments of intense violence and gore, and a plot that keeps you guessing, ‘Abruptio’ will have you on the edge of your seat, gripping the armrests.

Les is voiced by James Marsters, who memorably played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Marsters is joined by Christopher McDonald (The Watcher), Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect, The Babysitter), the late Sid Haig (3 From Hell, House of 1000 Corpses), Rich Fulcher (Wonka, Snatchers), Jordan Peele (The Twilight Zone, Nope) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street).

If the movie “Abruptio” doesn’t come to a cinema near you, don’t worry. You can get it on DVD and Blu-Ray from December 10th. Fingers crossed that it will also become available for streaming soon. I believe it would be an excellent addition to Shudder, where it could share the spotlight with movies like “Mad God” and “Caveat”.
