Skye Wheatley breaks down in tears as she admits mental illness is behind her plastic surgeries and she has 'daddy issues' following her fox eye lift

As an ardent fan who has been following Skye Wheatley‘s journey for quite some time now, I find her story to be a rollercoaster of emotions. On one hand, I admire her courage to embrace change and transform herself through cosmetic surgery, which she openly shares with her followers. On the other hand, I am deeply concerned about her self-perception issues that seem to overshadow her incredible beauty.

Skye Wheatley openly shared that she has been diagnosed with body dysmorphia following her recent fox eye lift surgery and additional treatments performed in Turkey about a month ago.

In a heartfelt video shared on TikTok, the popular social media figure, aged 30, tearfully confessed that her frequent cosmetic surgeries might be due to an underlying health issue. She expressed deep concern that her two boys could potentially inherit this condition in the future.

Skye and her long-term companion, Lachlan Waugh, have two young sons together: Forest, who is five years old, and Bear, aged three.

The winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2024 admitted, “I believe it’s likely that I have some mental health issues, and I also struggle with body dysmorphia.

I’ve been placing an enormous amount of self-expectation, striving for perfection. It’s something I wouldn’t wish upon them; it could potentially overwhelm and sadden them deeply.

‘I do not want them to go through that.’

She also opened up about her failed childhood dreams and admitted she had ‘daddy issues’.

As a child, her ambition was to become a renowned singer. She nurtured dreams of fame as a singer, yet as she grew up and matured, self-doubt crept in more frequently.

‘I always had this little voice in my head saying “You’re not good enough”.

Could it be a result of unresolved father-related matters, or perhaps something else entirely? I can’t say for certain. However, what I do know is that I’ve consistently felt this way, and there’s a constant voice in my mind telling me ‘you’re not good enough’.

The reality TV personality is sharing updates about her healing process following procedures like a “fox eye lift,” liposuction, a temporal lift, and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty).

The “Fox Eye Lift” procedure, which aims to replicate the glamorous red-carpet style of the same name, subtly repositions the outer corners of the eyes to create an almond shape that is typically attained through heavy eye makeup.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a type of mental health condition characterized by individuals excessively worrying about and fixating on a real or imagined physical imperfection they perceive on their body.

The flaw may be minor or imagined, but a person with BDD may spend hours a day trying to fix it.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some insights about Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) based on information from the American Psychiatric Association. Individuals struggling with BDD may sometimes pursue excessive or unnecessary cosmetic procedures in their quest for physical perfection, despite not necessarily needing these interventions. It’s crucial to understand that this behavior is often a symptom of the disorder rather than a genuine desire for improvement.

Earlier this month, Skye told her followers that she wants to get even more liposuction done after her recent trip, despite previously revealing her plastic surgeon had told her she ‘doesn’t need it’ and advised against it.

Skye acknowledged that she’s quite harsh with herself, and she suspects others do too, which saddens her deeply since she often finds beauty in others when looking at them.

I find such beauty in them, yet when I look at my reflection, I’m overly critical of myself, and it’s truly disappointing.

In July 2023, the cosmetic surgery sector in Australia implemented stringent changes, which were supported by practitioners within the field.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some recent changes in the cosmetic industry here in Australia. To ensure safety and wellbeing, there are new regulations for cosmetic doctors. Firstly, a mandatory referral from a General Practitioner is now required before any cosmetic surgery can be performed. This is to ensure that patients are medically fit for the procedure.

Although Skye has mocked reports that she was being considered to host Love Island Australia, she went on to reveal she had previously been invited to audition for The Voice.

“Did you know? Following my time on Big Brother, I was offered a spot on The Voice, but I chose not to accept.

In the past, I wouldn’t have declined a television offer, but due to the inner voice constantly telling me “you don’t belong here,” I chose to forgo the chance.

I’ve moved away from my childhood aspirations due to self-doubt, potential rejections, and perhaps unresolved daddy issues.

‘It’s probably a whole bunch of trauma from when I was little.’

As your trusted lifestyle advisor, let me encourage you to treat yourself with kindness, rather than being overly critical as I sometimes do. Remember, self-compassion is crucial and it truly doesn’t benefit anyone to be unkind to oneself. For those of you seeking guidance on cosmetic procedures, I hope this reminder inspires you to approach your journey with empathy and patience, just as I strive to do for myself.

She expressed that it would displease her if her kids followed that path, as she doesn’t encourage such behavior. She emphasized that she will always be their biggest supporter.

In response to continuous speculations about her possibly having an obsession with plastic surgery, Skye has justified her recent disclosure of her cosmetic procedures to her 667,000 Instagram fans this month.

Additionally, she posted a collection of videos on Instagram on Tuesday, explaining why it took her such an extended period to reveal her newly transformed appearance.

Skye apologized if her actions caused any harm while documenting. Deep down, she believes she’s contributing positively. She also wants to clarify that she’s not deceitful.

‘I know what my face looked like 10 years ago.

As the years pass by, especially past the age of 25, performing a winged eyeliner style becomes increasingly challenging. Now, this isn’t about judging or criticizing aging; it’s simply an observation. To be frank, I find it easier to apply my eyeliner again.

She also joked that during her recovery from the fox eye lift surgery she looked like ‘the Angry bird emoji.
