Shudder releasing super-sized and comprehensive Child's Play doc this November

As a long-time fan of Chucky and the Child’s Play franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Doc of Chucky”! With its impressive 290-minute runtime, it’s like getting five horror movies in one documentary. It’s been a rollercoaster ride watching this killer doll evolve over the years, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into his twisted history.

If you’re still feeling the pain of the Syfy series “Chucky” ending, here’s a bit of cheerful news! In November, Shudder will be premiering an extensive documentary about everything related to “Child’s Play” and Chucky. This fascinating piece will feature key figures like Don Mancini, Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and many others from the franchise’s most prominent roles.

Described as “the ultimate account of the Child’s Play film franchise and Chucky,” Doc of Chucky comes from director Thommy Hutson, whose previous credits include Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy and Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th.

This extensive documentary titled “Doc of Chucky” spans approximately 290 minutes, which is nearly five hours in total, as stated in the official press release from Shudder. It might be divided into multiple parts for easier viewing, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. The film will delve into the entire span of the franchise, incorporating clips, photos, historical documents, and interviews with cast members, crew, historians, experts, and others involved in the series.

In addition to the stars previously mentioned, such as Catherine Hicks, John Waters, Chris Sarandon, Perrey Reeves, Fiona Dourif, David Kirschner, Gerrit Graham, and more, the upcoming film “Doc of Chucky” will also spotlight other characters. It’s exciting to speculate about potential appearances from actors in the Syfy series!

Unfortunately, Syfy has ended Chucky after its third season, but don’t worry – Chucky isn’t gone for good. He even posted on his social media to reassure fans that we’ll be seeing more of him sometime down the line. It’s tough to imagine this horror icon vanishing from popular culture completely. Given the enduring popularity of the killer doll, it’s only a matter of time before another Child’s Play film is released. Let’s hope that whatever comes next in the saga addresses the cliffhangers left by the finale of season 3.

Doc of Chucky premieres on November 1 exclusively on Shudder.
