As an avid film enthusiast with a penchant for gripping erotic thrillers and a soft spot for Nicole Kidman’s captivating performances, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming release of “Babygirl”. The trailer alone has me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the complex dynamics between Kidman’s character Romy and her much younger intern Samuel.
The new trailer for Nicole Kidman’s sizzling new film Babygirl has been released.
57-year-old Kidman portrays Romy, a powerful CEO who is married but embarks on an affair with her younger intern Samuel (played by Harris Dickinson, 28) in the provocative drama. The trailer depicts their romance blossoming, from their initial glance to their secret meetings.
The trailer opens as Romy initially spots Samuel on the sidewalk, following his successful effort in pacifying a canine that was charging at her.
Audience, in turn, catch a peek at Romy’s life as she juggles her career and family responsibilities – from tending to her kids, to her loving bond with her husband Jacob (played by Antonio Banderas).
‘Don’t you have to be at work yet?’ he asks her as he plants a kiss on her cheek.
She ponders, ‘As a CEO, I am both a team player and a caretaker.’ Yet, it seems everyone is anticipating me to crack under stress.
At work, she encounters a fresh batch of interns, among whom is the young fellow who assisted her with her pet dog.
The sexual tension is palpable right from the start.
‘Hey, how did you get that dog to calm down?’ she asks him.
‘I gave it a cookie,’ he replies.
‘Do you always have cookies on you?’ she asks. ‘Why do you want one?’ Samuel asks.
In a private conversation, Samuel directly questions Romy about her work responsibilities without pulling any punches.
‘I see myself as a – ‘ Romy begins before Samuel interrupts. ‘Power hungry personality?’ he asks.
Stunned, Romy replies: ‘You think that’s what I am?’
Samuel responds, “I believe you prefer having instructions given,” then follows with an apology, stating, “That was quite out of line.
In a casual manner, Romy states, “What you’re doing isn’t right,” to which Samuel responds with a hint of curiosity, “Really?” As they exchange this brief dialogue, they initiate the start of their secret relationship by sharing their first kiss.
Samuel says: ‘If we’re going to do this, we need to set some rules that you and I both agree on.
‘Starting with I tell you what to do and you do it.’
During one rendezvous, he instructs Romy to get down on her knees.
‘No! What!?’ she says.
‘Get on your knees now,’ he says again before chuckling. ‘Is that what you want?’ he says.
As the affair continues, Romy tells Samuel, ‘You’re very young. I don’t want to hurt you.’
However, Samuel hints at his control, saying, ‘I believe I hold power over you, for I could make just one phone call and you’d stand to lose everything. Doesn’t that excite you when I suggest it?’
It was a shock to her when, upon entering her home, there sat Samuel at the dining table among her family members – he had unexpectedly arrived before her.
‘Oh hey,’ he says. ‘You forgot your laptop at the office.’
It appears that Romy has been giving off a new vibe ever since she got involved in an affair, which her husband is sensing.
‘You seem liberated,’ Romy’s husband says.
‘I’ve never experienced anything like this,’ she whispers.
Babygirl will be released in theatres on December 25, 2024.
