This is Ethan Page’s chance to show he’s a main eventer
As a gamer who has been following the wrestling scene for years, I can confidently say that the debut of WWE NXT on the CW Network feels like a new era is dawning. The logo may be the same, but the energy and excitement around it reminds me of when the black and gold logo transitioned to the vibrant NXT 2.0 colors.
In approximately 24 hours, WWE NXT will make its debut on the CW Network, marking a new phase in its journey. Although the logo remains unchanged, it’s hard not to feel like we’re seeing a fresh start, much like when the old black and gold logo was replaced with the vibrant NXT 2.0 colors. The globe is paying attention to how effectively NXT cultivates its stars for the main stage, and one of those talents who has a strong shot at demonstrating he belongs in the limelight is Ethan Page.
Before claiming the NXT Championship, Page honed his skills in various wrestling circuits such as the Independent scene, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling (formerly TNA), The North, AEW, and eventually found a permanent place in NXT. It was evident that he had great potential, but needed more chances and the right moment to shine. Following his departure from AEW, Page swiftly returned to work with ROH, then joined WWE and made an unexpected, unparalleled, and inspiring debut on NXT.
In May, we were eagerly anticipating who would challenge the former NXT Champion Trick Williams for the title next. Suddenly, a newcomer named Page appeared, attacking Williams and apparently other locker room members such as Oro Mensah, Noam Dar, among others. This unexpected arrival wasn’t previously reported by any wrestling media, making it an incredibly surprising event.
Reflecting on the situation now, it proved to be an exceptional move for several reasons. Firstly, it elevated Page’s status significantly, placing him in contention for the NXT title. Secondly, it established him as the top antagonist or “heel” in the men’s division, a role he embraced immediately. This was a much-needed boost following the departure of popular figures like Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, Bron Breakker, and others to the main roster. The void they left behind was substantial, but Page stepped up admirably as an instant solution.
By strategically positioning Page as a standout player, the choice to seize the championship title away from Williams turned out to be an inspired move, further intensifying the competition.
The fresh start for Page on NXT has been going incredibly well thus far. He is now the biggest heel in the men’s division on Tuesday nights, and finds himself in the main event for tomorrow’s big debut for NXT on the CW. Williams has been there, done that as a main eventer, now it is time for Page to execute on his chance to prove he is a main eventer. Recently, Page sat down with Chris Van Vliet to talk about his journey, winning the NXT, and much more. This clip of Page talking about winning the NXT title proves exactly why he is ready to prove himself as a main eventer.
