On Instagram, the actress and her sister paid an emotional tribute to their deceased mother, sharing previously unseen images of her.

In the statement, Nicole expressed gratitude on behalf of herself, her sister, and their entire family for the abundance of affection and goodwill they’ve experienced over the past week.

Due to some upsetting information, the Australian actress had to depart from the Venice Film Festival and head back to Sydney, her hometown, to be with her loved ones.

On the last day of the Venice Film Festival, Nicole won Best Actress for her performance in Babygirl, only moments after her mother, Janelle, had passed away.

Today, I reached Venice, only to learn soon afterwards that my remarkable and courageous mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had sadly passed away. This was shared in a statement read aloud during my victory celebration by the director, Halina Reijn.

I’m utterly stunned and need to be with my loved ones, yet this recognition should rightfully belong to her. She molded me, directed me, and essentially created the person I am today.

During a conversation on the Fresh Air podcast in January 2022, Nicole mentioned that she had returned to Sydney for a while to help address some health concerns of her mother.
