As a die-hard fan of Maureen Lipman, I can’t help but feel elated and inspired by her latest news. At 78 years young, she continues to break boundaries and prove that age is just a number when it comes to love, career, and life in general. Her unique sense of humor and unconventional approach to proposing to her boyfriend David Turner on a train journey are testament to her vivacious spirit and zest for living.

On Monday evening, Maureen Lipman walked with a lively bounce at the Inside Soap Awards, and it was certainly warranted.

The Coronation Street actress recently emerged for her initial public outing since she announced her engagement to her business consultant beau, David Turner.

78-year-old Lipman chose an unusual approach by proposing while trying to share a humorous anecdote on a recent train ride with Turner, who is likewise 78 years old.

However, she had returned to work, in a sense, since the yearly Inside Soap Awards commenced at London’s Salsa Temple. There, she mingled with her Coronation Street colleagues.

Long-time screen actor Lipman, who joined the soap as Evelyn Plummer in 2018, chose a smart collared dress for her evening outing at a lively cocktail bar situated along Victoria Embankment.

As an ardent admirer, I effortlessly pulled together my ensemble with a pair of comfortable flats, perfectly complementing my outfit. My short tresses were artfully arranged in a chic side-swept style, adding the finishing touch to my adoration-inspired appearance.

In an article for The Spectator, she shared that later in the evening, my partner David and I chose to inform our kids about our upcoming wedding since together we total 156 years in age.

To be honest, I’d been quite resistant to the idea of marriage, but en route from Edinburgh, he brought up an interesting point: it was actually a lesser-known Jewish holiday, Tu B’Av, on which a woman could propose to a man for matrimony.

With an irresistible urge, I sneaked beneath the table that divided us, taking a knee, and requested his hand. To my astonishment and a hint of apprehension, he obliged.

For three decades, the actress was married to screenwriter Jack Rosenthal, who passed away in 2004. During their union, they were blessed with two children, Amy (aged 50) and Adam (aged 48). It is also worth mentioning that she has three children from a previous relationship.

She mentioned that the responses from the kids were heartfelt, and each one was unique.

One youngster mentioned he required some time to understand the situation. We shared the information with someone else while they were arranging leaves on a fresh table, making the moment feel like a scene from a Jack Rosenthal play – one that, in my imagination, had a positive conclusion.

In the fall of 2023, Maureen initially talked about David when she disclosed that she was inviting her “male companion” to the National Television Awards for that particular year.

In a recent interview with the Sunday Express, she mentioned that she is accompanying her partner, David.

Discussing finding love again at 77, the star was overjoyed to be sharing life with a partner.

She mentioned that it’s a thoughtful gesture for everyone involved. She also noted that he has been quite kind. Throughout her life, she’s encountered many kind and intriguing men, and time will tell where this leads.

They made their public appearance debut at the Oldie Of The Year Awards that November.

At the event, Maureen said of David: ‘That’s my significant other.’

For 13 years prior to his passing in 2021, Maureen was romantically involved with Italian entrepreneur, Guido Castro, following the demise of her husband.
