You can now watch classic episodes of The Real Ghostbusters for free on YouTube. This comes before the release of a brand new animated series planned for Netflix.
For a while, some episodes of the original The Real Ghostbusters cartoon were available on the official Ghostbusters YouTube channel, but most were taken down. Now, classic episodes are being re-uploaded, but this time through the Sony Pictures Entertainment India channel. As of today, eleven episodes are up, and more are being added almost every day, suggesting that many more will become available over time.
Stream The Real Ghostbusters on YouTube Now
Even though these videos are being uploaded to an Indian YouTube channel, people in most countries, including the United States, can still watch them. According to Ghostbusters News, some episodes have new titles, likely to better suit different regions. For example, “Baby Spookums” is now called “Slimer and the Wandering Ghost,” “Once Upon a Slime” is now “Slimer’s Book Comes to Life,” “The Two Faces of Slime” is now “Monster Transformation,” and “It’s a Jungle Out There” is now “The Beast That Would Rule the World.”
After a 40-year break, The Real Ghostbusters is back on YouTube! The cartoon series, which began in 1986 on ABC, was inspired by the 1984 Ghostbusters movie and ran for seven seasons, creating 140 episodes. While featuring characters from the film, the animated series used a different cast of voice actors. This included Lorenzo Music and Dave Coulier as Peter Venkman, Maurice LaMarche as , Frank Welker as Ray Stantz, Arsenio Hall and Buster Jones as Winston Zeddemore, and Laura Summer and Kath Soucie as Janine Melnitz.
A New Animated Series Is Happening at Netflix
This release lets fans re-watch the classic cartoon before a brand new animated series arrives. News of the new series first surfaced in 2022, with Netflix as the planned streaming home. While development has taken time, reports indicate it’s still coming to Netflix. In 2024, and again last year, details emerged: Flying Bark Productions will animate the series, and Elliott Kalan (known for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) is directing.
It’s still unknown when the new Netflix series will be released. While no official details about the title or plot have been revealed, rumors suggest it might be set in the 1990s, connecting the original Ghostbusters movies with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. However, this information hasn’t been confirmed.
