As a longtime fan of Katy Perry, I must say I was both thrilled and puzzled by her performance at the AFL Grand Final. On one hand, it was a treat to hear her powerful vocals belt out hits like Roar and Firework, transporting me back to my carefree teenage years. However, the unexpected absence of Hot n Cold left me scratching my head. I’ve always considered that song the unofficial anthem of MasterChef Australia, and its omission felt a bit like missing out on dessert after a filling meal.

Katy Perry attracted attention in a peculiar, zippered mini dress that went down to her mid-calf and a set of leather knee-high boots while hanging out with Nicole Kidman and Ashley Graham in Paris.

39-year-old Katy Perry, known for her hit song “Firework,” was present at the glamorous Balenciaga Spring Summer 2025 fashion event in Paris on Monday evening.

Katy made quite an entrance at the event, donning a sleek black midi dress that had a design reminiscent of a black duffel bag for weekend travel.

Her dress featured halterneck straps made of leather, embellished with zippers. She accessorized this outfit with snug leather heeled boots, wraparound sunglasses, and sported a sleek, wet-style hairstyle with her dark hair.

Meanwhile The Perfect Couple actress Nicole, 57, looked effortless chic in a black high-necked bodycon midi-dress with sheer tights and stilettos.

Nicole gave a wave and formed a heart gesture with her hands while walking under an umbrella, protecting herself from the rain, as she moved towards the entrance, acknowledging the crowd.

Model Ashley, 36, put on a glamorous display for the show in a silver sequined gown.

She matched the stunning dress with a sleek black fur coat and high heels, pulling her long, dark hair back into a neat bun.

Fashion icon Naomi Campbell attended the Balenciaga show, dressed in an elegant cream tweed high-collared gown and a sleek black jacket.

Model girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio, Vittoria Ceretti, too graced the fashion show, concealing her daily attire under a large black raincoat.

The French actress Sophie Marceau also graced the event, captivating everyone with her stylish ensemble consisting of a structured, over-sized blazer and a high-collared dress.

A notable arrival under the stars was none other than the IT actor, Bill Skarsgard, donning a large leather jacket and heavy-soled boots.

Instead, Model Anok Yai switched from the monochrome black attire, opting for a large, white down jacket and a warm, brown fur scarf instead.

Anok completed her look with a gingham shirt dress and skin-tight thigh-high boot heels.

After performing at the AFL Grand Final match held at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Katy quickly departed for France from Australia only a few hours later.

She took to the stage in front of 100,000 AFL fans on Saturday as she headlined the pregame show.

Initially taking fans by surprise, she started her 20-minute performance, said to earn her $5 million, with her popular song Roar. Contrary to many expectations, she decided to perform this hit.

There was a lot of heated discussion suggesting that the song was banned due to perceived favoritism towards the Lions. Even Katy herself admitted receiving warnings about performing it.

Nevertheless, despite numerous speculations, Katy boldly took a risk by performing the song often viewed as an unofficial anthem for the underdogs.

Later on, she added more astonishment to the audience when she decided against performing Hot n Cold, a song often associated with MasterChef Australia and humorously considered as Australia’s unofficial national anthem.

As an ardent admirer, I had the privilege of witnessing her perform fan favorites like “Teenage Dreams,” “Dark Horse,” “Firework,” and “California Gurls.” She also teamed up with Tina Arena for a rendition of “I Kissed A Girl.” However, to my slight disappointment, the much-anticipated performance of “Hot n Cold” was absent from her set.

After allegedly being limited to only performing a single new song by the AFL authorities, Katy additionally sang two tunes from her 2024 album “143” – Lifetimes and Gorgeous, a duet she made with Kim Petras.

During her performance, while some admired her vocal skills, others found themselves puzzled by a peculiar aspect that seemed out of place at an AFL Grand Final, as they pointed out.

At-home viewers flooded social media, relentlessly criticizing her decision to integrate various unconventional digital effects with her live performance and dancing.
