Over the years, it seems as if Elizabeth Hurley and Patsy Kensit have navigated through their fair share of personal turbulence, with relationships that spanned from the glamorous to the tragic. Yet, amidst all the highs and lows, one constant remains – their unwavering bond of friendship that has stood the test of time for an impressive 35 years!

In the company of the most renowned figure of Britpop and the leading star in romantic comedies, they were associated with what could be considered the most popular “power couples” of the 1990s.

But while Patsy Kensit and Liam Gallagher’s marriage and Elizabeth Hurley’s tumultuous 13-year relationships with Hugh Grant are as much relics of the era as bucket hats and flip phones, the friendship between the two women is still going strong.

They initially crossed paths on the set of the long-forgotten ’90s action-thriller “Kill Cruise”, and this past weekend, Liz, aged 59, posted a smoldering flashback photo of them both from the movie to mark their remarkable 35 years of friendship.

She added a picture of them a few days earlier at a breast cancer charity fundraising lunch, prompting Patsy to respond: ‘Fifi I love you so much and love being Aunt Ratticus to beautiful Damian.’

Over the years, their friendship weathered numerous hardships. In 2000, Liz parted ways with Hugh, while Patsy and Liam ended their marriage contentiously around the same time.

In the aftermath of Oasis reuniting and sparking a ’90s nostalgia wave across the UK, it’s hardly unexpected that Elizabeth reminisces warmly about their time as a quartet. She recalls how the famously grumpy Mancunian would even help with the dishes when he visited her mother’s cottage with Patsy.

On Ken Bruce’s Golden Years program on Greatest Hits Radio, she disclosed that she spent significant amounts of time with the band during the early ’90s, an era when Patsy was wedded to Liam.

She shared that we encountered many of them, and it was truly astonishing due to the fact that Patty is an extremely close friend of mine, almost like a sibling.

When I was preparing to encounter Liam for the initial time, I wasn’t entirely sure what awaited me, assuming him to be a rather unpredictable, free-spirited individual, characteristic of someone from Manchester. To my delight, he turned out to be incredibly endearing instead.

Previously, people would visit our quaint countryside house, which belonged first to me and later to my parents. During those visits, Liam always assisted with the dishes, and he was simply charming.

She stated: “I found Liam and Patsy charming, which further increased my affection for Oasis. I also recall visiting them backstage during some of their performances.

Once more, considering them as possibly unpredictable and curious, they would sit engrossed in a crossword puzzle. Notably, clad in sweaters like cardigans, and simply radiating tranquility.

Similarly, Patsy has equally fond memories of Liz and Hugh as a couple.

According to her, The Times was informed that Hugh is simply hilarious, and he shares this quality with Elizabeth – they both possess an outstanding sense of humor. Together, they were a delightful pair.

When Elizabeth and Patsy crossed paths on the Kill Cruise set, each had aspirations of becoming leading actresses and making it big in the film industry.

Elizabeth made her debut as the main character for the first time, yet the movie didn’t fare particularly well, and Patsy would go on to label it as “an astonishingly poor German production,” that was filmed in Malta.

The pair adopted thick Leeds accents to pay two strippers who persuade German skipper Jurgen Prochnow to sail them across the Atlantic, from Gibraltar to Barbados.

Things went sour when Patsy’s character realised that Jurgen fancied Elizabeth and not her.

Due to its poor reviews, the ill-fated cruise ship Will Kill Cruise vanished mysteriously, thereby strengthening the connection between the two ladies.

When Liam and Patsy’s son Lennon was born in 1999, Elizabeth was their choice for godmother.

However after Liam and Pasty divorced in 2000 Liz and Patsy appeared to grow apart some what.

In 2005, when asked by The Independent if she was still best friends with Elizabeth Hurley, Patsy replied: “In fact, my closest friend is a woman named Ang, who is just an ordinary mom.

I have Elizabeth as my girlfriend, but due to our current circumstances, we don’t get to spend a lot of time together since our lives are geographically apart right now.

‘My life isn’t very showbizzy any more.’

They then found their way back to each other over the few years that followed.

At the fourth wedding of DJ Jeremy Healy and Patsy, which took place in 2008, Elizabeth served as a bridesmaid. Regrettably, they parted ways only a year later, with Elizabeth providing comfort and support during their separation.

This year, Patsy restarted her relationship with real estate mogul Patric Cassidy, whom she had been previously engaged to. However, their engagement ended in May, preventing him from becoming her fifth husband.

Before her marriages to Liam and Dan, she got married to Dan Donovan from the ’80s band Big Audio Dynamite in 1988. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1991.

In 1992, Patsy tied the knot with the lead singer of Simple Minds, Jim Kerr. Their union resulted in a son named James born in 1993. Unfortunately, they parted ways just three years into their marriage.

Meanwhile, Liz’s love life has also been a rollercoaster.

Following their separation in 2000, she moved on to dating movie producer Steve Bing, who at first refused to acknowledge that he was the father of her child, Damian.

From 2007 to 2011, she was wed to wealthy textile heir Arun Nayar. Prior to that, she had been involved with the late cricket legend Shane Warne, a relationship which ended in 2013.

In June 2020, at the age of 55, businessman Steve tragically took his own life, while cricketer Shane passed away in March 2022 at the age of 52, due to a heart attack.

2024 found them reminiscing about three decades of camaraderie, marking the occasion with a fiery flashback photo shared on a Sunday.

Elizabeth posted a picture, showing she and the other person meeting up, at last week’s Estee Lauder’s Future Dreams Ladies Lunch held at The Savoy Hotel. She also included this in her share.

Despite three decades having passed, Elizabeth wore a striking pink, off-the-shoulder midi dress by Rebecca Vallance, while Patsy chose a sleek and form-fitting black outfit to maintain a chic aesthetic.

“I’ve been friends with Patsy Kensit for 35 years. The first photo shows our first meeting, while the second one was taken just a few days ago.

Patsy responded: “My dearest Fifi, I adore you immensely, and cherish the role of Aunt Ratticus to charming Damian, your precious son.

The photo was taken on the set of Kill Cruise, which was released in 1990, a movie that saw the two play British women taken on a tour from from Gibraltar to the West Indies by a drunken sailor.

Later, Elizabeth made appearances in major motion pictures such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and Bedazzled (2000).

Apart from TV shows like The Royals and Gossip Girl, she’s also made appearances on screen. Additionally, she has ventured into entrepreneurship by creating her own line of beachwear.

Simultaneously, Patsy also boasts a remarkable career, featuring alongside Mel Gibson in the 1989 film “Lethal Weapon 2,” and has appeared on television series like “EastEnders,” “Emmerdale,” and “Holby City.

At a high-class event in London, Elizabeth reunited with her friend, and there was also the presence of her resemblance, Damian, who is 22 years old.

She accessorized her striking ensemble with some delicate pink sandals featuring straps, and a petite, shimmering pink handbag embellished with a pretty pink ribbon.

While his mother opted for colour, Damian kept things sophisticated in an all black ensemble.

Damian and his mom frequently go to events as a pair, and they were recently spotted earlier this month looking stylish and elegant at an event celebrating Hugh Grant’s 64th birthday.
