There isn’t a new episode of Matlock tonight, but we know when it will return to CBS
As a long-time fan of legal dramas and suspenseful storytelling, I must admit that the scheduling of the new Matlock series has left me a bit bewildered and frustrated. After eagerly tuning in for the premiere last week, I was expecting to continue my weekly fix tonight, but alas, no new episode awaits us this Sunday.
Here we are with the fall TV season, but it seems there’s a minor hiccup in the schedule. Following an impressive premiere of the new Matlock series last Sunday, you’re probably preparing for another episode tonight, which is this coming Sunday, September 29th.
I regret to inform you, but there won’t be a fresh installment of your favorite series airing tonight or next Sunday.
The network CBS chose an unconventional airing pattern for this fresh series. This decision allowed them to present the initial episode well ahead of when it will be broadcast regularly. Moreover, they decided to air this episode on a night that deviates from its scheduled slot during the autumn lineup.
Matlock will return with new episodes on October
In this month, you won’t find any fresh episodes of Matlock airing at all. Instead, CBS decided to broadcast the premiere well ahead of schedule, which seems intended to generate excitement for the series. However, it’s important to note that such an irregular release pattern can be frustrating and confusing. This tactic has been used before with Elsbeth, and now it’s being applied to Matlock as well.
The second episode of the Kathy Bates series will air on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Absolutely! The program is set to broadcast every Thursday night. You’ll find it at 9 p.m., both Eastern and Pacific Time, with “Ghosts” preceding it and “Elsbeth” following. This time slot is acceptable, yet it will compete against the fresh ABC series “Doctor Odyssey” and “Law & Order: SVU” on NBC. Historically, a few shows on CBS have faced challenges in this timeslot, so we are somewhat apprehensive about it.
It’s quite evident that there are some intriguing plot developments on the horizon. We’re aware that Matty seems to be involved in something more than just earning money by returning to work. While she claims this is her motivation, it appears that there’s more to it. She has hinted that being inconspicuous is her secret strength, and she’s not only using it in a court setting. It also seems she’s employing this skill at her new job as well.
Matlock returns on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9/8c on CBS.
