Barry Williams reveals Brady Bunch cast ‘all hooked up with each other at some point’
As a devoted fan who grew up with The Brady Bunch, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia reading about Barry Williams‘ behind-the-scenes tales from the iconic sitcom. It’s fascinating to learn about the romantic entanglements among the cast members, and it seems like Greg Brady had quite the love life!
Barry Williams, famous for his role as Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch, shared insights into what really happened during the filming of the popular television series.
The series aired between 1969 and 1974, and this year marks the 55th anniversary of its first broadcast on September 26, 1969.
Williams, at the age of 69, shared with Us Weekly that at some stage, everyone became connected or associated with one another. This didn’t necessarily happen during the filming process.
Williams, who went to the Race to Erase MS Gala recently, also disclosed which of the Brady children had a romantic connection with their on-screen relative or guardian.
He was romantically involved with Maureen McCormick, while Chris Knight dated both Eve Plum and Michael Lookinland, as well as Susan Olsen who once staged a small mock wedding. In other words, we all had romantic connections.
The hookups coincided with the age each of the characters played.
In their family setup, Greg and Marcia held the positions as the eldest siblings, while Peter and Jan occupied the middle spots. Lastly, Bobby and Cindy were the youngest of the bunch.
However, it wasn’t only the Brady child actors who caught his eye; in addition, Williams admitted that he harbored a strong affection for Carol Brady, the character played by Florence Henderson on the show.
He confessed, “I definitely had a crush on her during my teenage years.” She possesses an energetic character and a fantastic sense of humor, but he found himself frequently discussing his aspirations for a music-oriented career in acting with her.
He shared that he encountered this singer at the Copacabana club, located near Beverly Hills, though he can’t quite remember the precise location. He invited her out on a date, and she agreed, which filled him with excitement. In his words, that evening turned into a date for him.
For Williams, it was an unforgettable evening; he shared with the media that the two of them drew attention as they ventured out together.
Williams reminisced about an occasion where they were noticed, sparking hushed conversations among the crowd. Strangely enough, the topic of conversation revolved around a particular singer, their musical arrangements, the band accompanying them, and the experiences of touring with them.
He shared with me a vision of how life might be at the end of our date, which I’ve documented in my book too, he explained.
And Williams remembers the night fondly.
‘I did go in for a little kiss and and, and she was nice enough to return it,’ he said.
‘So it was a highlight. Nice little peck, yes,’ he added.
The Brady Bunch is currently streaming on Paramount+.
