Triple M star Ben Dobbin rushed to hospital after horror bike crash that left him with broken neck and spinal injuries: ‘Might never walk again’

Commentator Ben Dobbin from Triple M football experienced a severe bicycle mishap, resulting in a fractured neck and damage to his spine.
Last week, during his preparation for the Noosa Triathlon, the 48-year-old co-host of The Rush Hour and sports reporter for Channel Nine experienced an accident, as detailed by the Courier Mail.
Ben, at present undergoing recovery at Brisbane’s Wesley Hospital, shared with the media that he was cycling alongside coach Cam Hughes when he suddenly veered off course to avoid a black snake on the road.
In a turn of events, my front tire touched Cam’s rear tire, causing me to lose control, veer off the road, and end up crashing headfirst into the single, solid steel post, as he disclosed.
Ben added that he instantly knew something was wrong and an ambulance was immediately called.
After a CT scan and an MRI Ben was diagnosed with a fractured C5 vertebrae.
On Thursday evening, Ben had a complex operation, and the doctors shared with him that it’s possible he may not regain his ability to walk.
He mentioned that he had been informed, via his throat during surgery, that there was a potential risk of losing his ability to speak.
I informed him, “That’s my profession,” and he responded, “My focus is on ensuring you won’t spend the remainder of your life confined to a wheelchair.
Ben added he was told that most people who suffer this type of injury never walk again.
Fortunately, Ben managed to take his initial steps following the surgery on Friday. However, he acknowledged that the road to recovery would be a lengthy one.
In the year 2021, Ben stated that he was requested to depart from a high-end Queensland resort due to an uncomfortable incident involving George and Amal Clooney.
On his Gold Coast radio program in 2022, Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin informed listeners that he had to end his honeymoon prematurely when staying at the prestigious Qualia resort on Hamilton Island, as he had gotten married to his wife Amity in early November.
He explained that his wife spotted Amal, 43, after visiting the resort’s spa and decided to take a sneaky photo, which was later leaked to Channel Nine news.
After stating they didn’t consider it a big deal, Ben and his spouse found themselves compelled to end their vacation early by two days, as they were told to depart the resort premises the following day.
A representative from Hamilton Island later released a statement regarding the incident, emphasizing that as a high-end tourist destination, it prioritizes safeguarding the privacy and tranquility of each and every one of its visitors.
‘For the privacy of all guests, unauthorised photography and filming of guests is unwelcome.
Ben received a warning, and he expressed sincere remorse. He wasn’t asked to depart from the Island, instead, he’s always invited to come back whenever he wishes.
