Emma Watkins reveals the struggle she endured after leaving The Wiggles: ‘I am sorry’
As a dedicated follower of Emma Watkins’ journey, I can’t help but admire her resilience and humility. Two years after leaving The Wiggles, she continues to face challenges with grace and determination. Her guilt over not being able to perform for her fans during the pandemic is palpable, yet she remains optimistic about connecting with them through new projects like Teenage Boss: Next Level.
Emma Watkins openly confessed that when she left The Wiggles two years back, she felt an overwhelming sense of guilt.
35-year-old children’s entertainer shares with Stellar Magazine this week that she regrettably struggled to meet fan expectations due to unavoidable circumstances.
During the pandemic, we didn’t go on tours, and she mentioned that perhaps she could keep from letting down as many kids by doing so.
Although I was no longer present during that period, I still let down those children. I’d like to apologize to every child from that time.
Emma went on to say that some of her fans have followed her over to her new projects.
The parents are likely to say, ‘We had tickets to come watch you perform in 2021, but the pandemic occurred and we received a refund. We were rebooked for another show, but unfortunately, you weren’t there. Now that we finally have the chance, we’re coming to see your performance as Emma Memma, since this is our first time seeing you live.’
‘That’s a beautiful story, too. And that story is still playing out’.
A few months ago, Emma announced her thrilling job change, which comes two years following her departure from the renowned kids’ ensemble.
For the third season of the widely acclaimed ABC reality series Teenage Boss: Next Level, she assumes the role of the main host.
For the first two seasons, the widely-watched series centered around a group of teenagers juggling their family finances was presented by Eddie Woo, who is known for his expertise in mathematics.
Watkins expressed her delight about joining the show in a statement.
She was excited to be part of the popular show as it entered its third season. She was eager to tackle the task of overseeing budgets alongside the teenage cast members, as she started out.
‘Hoping to learn a thing or two myself. Tighten your purse strings, I’m on my way!’
The television series, filmed in South Australia, is created by McAvoy Media with an aim to educate teens about smart financial management.
2022 marked a significant shift for me as I reluctantly bid adieu to my iconic Yellow Wiggle persona, a role that had been an integral part of my life for nearly a decade with the globally acclaimed children’s ensemble.
The beloved entertainer revealed she had a ‘lovely’ conversation with her successor Tsehay Hawkins the night before she quit the band.
She mentioned that Tsehay was thrilled to take on her role, and with their shared history of performing together, they were perfectly poised for the situation.
She mentioned to 7Life that despite not giving much thought the previous night, she distinctly recalled talking to Tsehay over the phone, and it was truly delightful, she added, as she had been pondering her choice to depart for quite some time already.
It seems like I was prepared to embark on a fresh phase, yet I wasn’t certain about my readiness.
After parting ways with the children’s supergroup about a year ago, the ex-Yellow Wiggle introduced a fresh character named Emma Memma, which she debuted in July of 2022.
Instead of her usual curly hair like Watkins’, she now sports a red hairstyle that complements her vibrant orange dress and pink blouse as part of her alternate persona.
