The new mystery series Detective Hole, based on the work of Jo Nesbø, is quickly becoming popular on Netflix UK after its recent release.
So, this game is based on a book series by Jo Nesbø, a Norwegian author. It actually adapts the fifth book, called The Devil’s Star. I’m a big fan of the source material, and I’m excited to see how they brought it to life in game form!
The show initially started in Norway, but it’s a British production created with the help of Tim Bevan and Eric Fullner from the studio behind Bridget Jones. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, both Australian composers, also contributed to the music.

The series centers around a detective, portrayed by Tobias Santelmann (known from The Last Kingdom), who is investigating a serial killer while also dealing with a dishonest colleague played by Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad). Peter Stormare (22 Jump Street) also appears in the show.
So, I finally finished binging the whole series – all nine episodes dropped on Thursday – and it’s already at number five on the Netflix UK Top 10! Seriously, it’s climbing the charts fast, and I can see why. It’s a really good show!

The show hasn’t received much critical attention yet, as Rotten Tomatoes currently only lists seven reviews.
All of them liked the show, however, meaning it currently has a 100% positive rating on the site.

Critics are praising Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole as a fantastic example of Nordic noir. FandomWire calls it “stylish, gritty, and suspenseful,” while Collider describes it as a thrilling and satisfying ride that truly delivers on the promise of the thriller genre.
This project is a departure from Working Title’s typical films, and Tim Fellner discussed why they decided to support it in an interview with Variety.
He explained that while some might find certain content shocking but enjoyable, others could find it deeply offensive. It really depends on individual perspective.
It’s powerful and effective, much like the violence in Tarantino’s movies – people actually enjoy it. That’s because you trust the creator – whether it’s Tarantino as a director, or Jo as a writer – to tell a compelling story.
Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole is out now on Netflix.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
