Alien: Romulus confirms digital release date

As a die-hard fan of the Alien franchise who’s been waiting with bated breath for this latest installment, I can hardly contain my excitement! After the heart-stopping action of Deadpool and Wolverine, I was yearning for more adrenaline-pumping sci-fi, and it seems like Disney has heard my prayers. The digital release date for Alien: Romulus is just around the corner – October 15th!

The alien character, Romulus, is set to infiltrate our households, as Disney has officially announced its digital release date for the upcoming month.

Following the confirmation of the digital release for both Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s officially announced that Alien: Romulus will be up for purchase starting on Tuesday, October 15, in the United States via Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and other platforms.

The exact UK digital release date for “Alien: Romulus” hasn’t been revealed as of now, but given that Disney usually simultaneous releases its films digitally in both the UK and the USA, we can expect it to be on the same day in both countries.

At present, you have the option to reserve a copy of “Alien: Romulus” on Amazon Prime Video in the United States, allowing you to stream it immediately upon its release.

Although they’ve revealed the digital launch date, Disney hasn’t disclosed the viewing availability of Alien: Romulus on their streaming platform, Disney+, as of now.

The usual timeline for a Disney release suggests it might be about a month after its digital launch. However, as this film is produced by 20th Century, there’s a chance it may become available for streaming earlier, similar to the early release of The First Omen.

In celebration of “Alien”‘s 45th anniversary, the digital version of “Alien: Romulus” will include exclusive extras like deleted and extended scenes, as well as a unique discussion between Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez.

Prior to hitting the big screen, Alvarez elaborated on the reasons behind changing the film’s initial streaming release for a theatrical debut instead.

He explained to Digital Spy that, as far as he’s concerned, the project began in 2021 because it was the time we started working on it. At that moment, there were no active theatre businesses. It had been a year or so since the COVID pandemic, and at that point, there was little optimism regarding theatres reopening.

In simpler terms, they were certain that a change (pivot) was necessary and they were about to make it. At that point in time, everyone understood that the project wouldn’t end up on a streaming platform.

Alien: Romulus is out now in cinemas and will be released digitally on October 15.
