David Beckham and Romeo engage in playful football banter littered with heart emojis after Manchester United beat Arsenal… as family put on united front in wake of Brooklyn’s statement

Following Brooklyn’s recent public statement, David Beckham and his son Romeo shared some lighthearted and playful teasing about football with each other on Sunday.

The 50-year-old sports legend has been a lifelong fan of Manchester United, the team where he began his career 34 years ago. His son, Romeo, 23, supports Arsenal, having played for their youth team briefly in 2014.

Manchester United won against Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday. Afterwards, David posted some old photos of his time playing for the team, and Romeo shared a screenshot showing his team at the top of the leaderboard, while David’s team was in fourth place.

Social media was filled with heart emojis, but 26-year-old Brooklyn felt very differently about his parents. He publicly criticized them last week and accused his family of being fake.

The young chef released a strong, six-page statement explaining he doesn’t want to make amends with his family, specifically his father, David. However, he hasn’t discussed his relationship with his brothers, Romeo and Cruz, who are both 20, or his sister, Harper, age 14.

Oh my gosh, during the game, David actually admitted he was nervous! He posted this amazing throwback photo from the 90s, and the caption just melted my heart. He quoted Sir Alex, saying ‘Squeaky bum time’! Seriously, that’s exactly what Sir Alex would say, and David remembering that… it’s just perfect. I’m getting chills thinking about it!

The phrase describes feeling anxious or on edge, and is believed to have originated with Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United, in 2003.

He followed up with a photo of himself looking triumphant, captioned with ‘You okay, Romeo?’ and a series of red, white, and black heart emojis.

David and Romeo Beckham’s recent playful interaction is just one example of the close bond the famous family has been publicly showing lately.

David is a Manchester United legend, having played 394 senior games under Sir Alex Ferguson and won numerous trophies, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the Champions League.

David shared that Arsène Wenger, the former Arsenal manager, helped bring Romeo to the club when he was young. Wenger gave Romeo a tour of the stadium and a signed shirt, along with an Arsenal cashmere scarf.

Romeo not only playfully bothered his father, but he also went out to dinner with his brother and their girlfriends, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel.

The two couples seemed very close and supportive of each other while celebrating Romeo’s debut as a model at the Willy Chavarria fashion show.

Despite a highly critical six-page statement released by his son the day before, David remained committed to his responsibilities and attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The upsetting post claimed his parents valued the ‘Beckham brand’ more than anything, and that his mother had rudely interrupted his first dance with his wife at their 2022 wedding by dancing with him in a way that felt inappropriate.

He accused them of showing disrespect towards his wife and prioritizing their own career advancement and sponsorships over everything else.

He rejected the showy social media posts, obligatory family gatherings, and superficial connections that had always been a part of his upbringing.

Victoria shifted the focus from the family drama by posting a photo celebrating her bandmate Emma Bunton’s birthday.

She sparked conversation online by sharing a photo with her former Spice Girls bandmates – Geri Horner, Mel C, and Emma – seemingly shifting the focus away from personal difficulties.
