BBC confirms release date for returning crime drama with Fool Me Once star
As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of crime dramas, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing the news about the upcoming second season of Showtrial. With my past experiences of being hooked on shows like Line of Duty and Bodyguard, it’s safe to say that this anthology series has piqued my interest.
The BBC has confirmed the release date for season 2 of anthology series Showtrial.
Starting this coming Sunday, October 6 at 6 a.m., the five-episode second season from the production company responsible for shows like “Line of Duty” and “Bodyguard” will become available on BBC iPlayer streaming service. The episodes will also air on BBC One every Sunday evening at 9 p.m.
For this new project, we have actors like Adeel Akhtar from “Fool Me Once”, Michael Socha known for “This Is England”, Joe Dempsie of “Game of Thrones”, and Nathalie Armin who starred in “The Batman”. They will be joined by a substantial ensemble cast.
The story begins a climate activist who is left for dead in a hit and run, and uses his last breath to apparently name the killer: a serving policeman.
The next five installments will chronicle the series of events leading up to and concluding with the jury’s decision, featuring prominently the police officer, defense attorney, detective inspector, and prosecution lawyer who are key players in these developments.
In a fresh trailer, we meet the main characters and learn about the strained relationship between the police officer and the activist. The officer appears self-assured, believing he can prove his innocence and uncover the truth.

Yet, the official summary hints that the details surrounding the death may not hold as much significance compared to other aspects.
As public anger intensifies, the show explores what occurs when a trial becomes entangled in cultural disputes, questioning whether the truth can ever be straightforward in such situations. Can justice truly prevail when emotions run so deep?
The Showtrial series is back on BBC iPlayer and BBC One starting this coming Sunday, October 6th. You can already stream season 1 on their service right now.
