America's Got Talent winner Richard Goodall vows to QUIT school janitor job to focus on music - and teases the unexpected artist he hopes to collaborate with

As a dedicated follower, I can’t help but be moved by Richard Goodall’s inspiring journey. This 55-year-old janitor turned America’s Got Talent winner is a testament to the power of dreams and determination. For 23 years, Richard has been mopping floors and dusting desks, all while harboring a secret dream – to be a musician.

The winner of America’s Got Talent, Richard Goodall, has disclosed his intention to leave his position as a school janitor after 23 years, in order to devote himself fully to his musical pursuits. He also hinted at the unexpected artist with whom he hopes to join forces creatively.

From the moment Richard, a 55-year-old resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, appeared on the America’s Got Talent stage, he’s consistently left both the audience and the judges astonished.

On Tuesday night, I was officially named the victor of the 19th season of the singing competition.

Prior to the final event, he looked back on his deeply personal odyssey, sharing his thoughts exclusively with DailyMail.com. He admitted that although music had long been his ambition, life consistently intervened along the way.

He recalled spending years thinking he ‘wasn’t good enough’ to become a star, while working as a middle school janitor to ‘pay the bills.’

However, the hopeful vocalist, accompanied by his spouse, Angie Vanoven, declared on the red carpet that should he secure the AGT title, he’d relinquish his janitor position to devote himself entirely to a career in music.

Angel mentioned that we had discussed this earlier. If a chance arises, he plans to graduate from school and then focus on his musical career, she shared.

Here’s what I hope he accomplishes: Going back to that job wouldn’t move him forward; it would be more like stepping back. And I won’t allow him to take that step, because Terre Haute will always hold a special place in our hearts, and those kids, they’ll forever remain part of us.

Richard concurred, expressing, “It feels unbelievable. It’s thrilling. Six months ago, I wouldn’t have dared to imagine all this [happening]. Absolutely not.

When queried about his motivation to try out for the show at the age of 55, the man from Indiana disclosed that it was his spouse and children who encouraged him to take the plunge.

He mused, “Life can occasionally interfere, making it seem like you’re working just to earn a salary and cover expenses.

On occasion, many individuals fail to realize their own worth. However, it ultimately reached a stage where Angie and her children urged her, saying, “Go for it! Go for it!

Richard said his next step is to make album, adding, ‘I’m willing to take on anything.’

In terms of artists he’d love to work with, he mentioned legendary rocker Steven Tyler and country sensation Jelly Roll.

‘That would be great,’ he teased. ‘Oh, I have a country side to me too.’

During his winning performance, Richard belted out Journey’s hit song Faithfully.

Beforehand, he received a pre-taped shoutout from Journey singer Neal Schon.

Afterwards, judge Howie Mandel was so blown away that he said he believed he had just won.

He not only called him a hero, but he also confidently forecasted that with his singing performance, he could potentially win a million dollars.

Heidi Klum, who had previously chosen Richard with the Golden Buzzer, remarked that he’s truly exceptional.

“Your modesty and kindness shine brightly. Although you can be reserved at times, when you’re in front of a microphone, you transform into an energetic and charismatic performer.

‘We all need a hero right now and you are a hero,’ Simon Cowell agreed.

Just days before winning the show, Richard walked down the aisle with Angie.

She shared with DailyMail.com that their decision to get married occurred following the discovery that Neal had given his blessing.

She shared that we discovered Neal, and it felt like a dream come true for the entire week, as if all our dreams had finally materialized,” (or)
