As a beauty enthusiast who has had my fair share of treatments, I find Shirley’s story incredibly relatable and inspiring. Her busy career and low pain threshold make her situation quite familiar to many women out there. The fact that she manages to maintain her professional life while still prioritizing her appearance is commendable.

Shirley Ballas, in a recent statement, shared that her self-assurance has been restored following a rigorous regimen of advanced cosmetic procedures, culminating in a non-invasive facelift which significantly improved her look.

Over the last year, Shirley, now 64, has been visiting one of the UK’s leading cosmetic physicians for a sequence of modern, non-surgical treatments aimed at refreshing her facial and neck appearance.

She’s taken up the position of head judge in the debut of a fresh Strictly Come Dancing series, which made its live premiere on Saturday evening.

Incredible before and after snaps show the transformation as she showed off her new look.

Shirley said: ‘I have to say that I think these treatments have shaved 30 years off me. It has made me feel so confident and comfortable in my own skin.

As a dedicated fan who grew up with the Beatles, I recently celebrated my 64th birthday, and I must say, it feels as if I’ve been granted a fresh start in life.

A few short years back, things looked quite distinct for our world-class dancer from Wallasey, who admittedly grappled with self-doubt about her physical appearance to the point of contemplating plastic surgery.

In her 60s, she was seriously contemplating getting a facelift. At that time, when she looked in the mirror, she saw skin that appeared dull, lifeless, and sagging. She also had numerous sun-spots and small spider veins on her nose.

Shirley also mentioned, “Seeing my entire face made me quite uneasy, considering I’m increasingly appearing in public.

Similar to most people, I aspire to present myself in the best possible way at my age. However, as we advance into our mid 60s and beyond, maintaining youthful-looking skin becomes increasingly challenging. Consequently, I’ve been on a quest for a non-invasive method to rejuvenate my skin.

For the last year, Shirley has been regularly visiting Dr. Johanna Ward’s clinic close to Harley Street for a sequence of monthly NeoGen nitrogen plasma treatments aimed at enhancing her skin.

Through a gentle, non-intrusive method, they employ extremely hot nitrogen gas to revitalize your skin from its core, resulting in a completely authentic, youthful appearance.

Doctor Ward stated: ‘NeoGen therapy cleverly persuades your skin to increase its production of collagen and elastin, which are key proteins responsible for maintaining the firmness and youthfulness of our skin.’

Collagen production gradually lessens from the late twenties and early thirties, and it decreases more noticeably past the age of forty, particularly during menopause.

However, by undergoing NeoGen treatments, you can stimulate an increase in collagen production. This is achieved through a process that generates controlled injury within the skin layers, prompting your body’s natural response to heal itself abundantly with collagen and elastin.

This year, we’ve given Shirley six monthly sessions of the low-energy NeoGen treatment, aimed at maintaining her collagen levels. Now, we plan to schedule these treatments every three months as a follow-up.

Examining both her old and new photos left Shirley in awe of the remarkable improvements she saw on her face.

She said: ‘Even I’m quite shocked, and I’m hard to please.

In simpler terms, the most significant enhancement I’ve noticed is the firming effect on my jawline, along with a reduction in sagging skin on my neck and jowls. Additionally, there’s been an overall improvement in my skin texture, and the NeoGen treatments have successfully eliminated all the sunspots, red marks, and spider veins that were present on my cheeks and nose.

Usually, my skin appears radiant and dew-kissed, quite unlike its former state which looked dull and worn out. However, post the treatments, it seems as if my entire face has been infused with a luminous glow. The transformation in such a brief period is simply astonishing.

After disclosing the outcomes of her previous treatments a year ago, Shirley opted to persist with NeoGen therapies and has been visiting Dr Ward approximately once every six weeks since then.

Shirley openly acknowledges that she has a relatively low tolerance for pain, which makes it challenging for her to endure treatment procedures given her demanding career schedule. She finds it difficult to take time off work for recovery.

Additionally, Shirley received Tenplus electrolyte packets for enhancing skin moisture levels prior to and following therapies. Moreover, she was supplied with G Herbal SKIN supplements enriched with Centella Asiatica and turmeric, which aim to amplify the effectiveness of the treatment procedures.

Shirley was snapped at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, located in south-east London. She commented, “I have a relatively low pain threshold, but once they apply the numbing cream, it becomes manageable for me and rates only around 2 or 3 on a scale of pain intensity.

She also mentioned, “I opt for treatment at a low power level, which practically eliminates recovery time for me. There might be slight redness in my skin the following day, but it won’t stop me from applying makeup or carrying on with my daily activities.

Over a period of about six months, you might not notice immediate improvements with less intense therapies, but I expect to witness a significant transformation.

According to Dr. Johanna Ward, some clients opt for more vigorous treatments that lead to faster skin rejuvenation outcomes, however, these options often require a longer recovery period after the treatment, which can last up to 10 days.

Due to her hectic professional schedule, Shirley couldn’t opt for a faster approach. Instead, she selected the more gradual method. You’ll typically observe a significant change after a couple of sessions with minimal energy levels, while major transformations occur following three to four treatments.

“NeoGen treatments with lower energy levels offer the advantage of minimal recovery time, making it possible for numerous clients to undergo them comfortably without needing topical anesthetics.

The treatments take about 45 minutes to do a full face, neck and top of the chest.

This year, Shirley underwent a total of six NeoGen Plasma sessions, which are known for their low energy. Prices with Dr. Ward begin at £800 for a comprehensive treatment that covers the face, neck, and décolletage. However, there are special offers: you can get three treatments for £2,150 or six for £3,850.

Shirley said: ‘I intend to keep up having the NeoGen treatments for the next year.

‘These outcomes are extraordinary and beyond expectations, I’m absolutely committed to maintaining them. To be honest, the idea of discontinuing them scares me a bit.’
