As a seasoned viewer of such reality shows, I must say I am always intrigued by the diverse backgrounds and personal journeys that each contestant brings to the table. In the case of Marnie, her recent medical incident sheds light on an often overlooked aspect of traveling – the importance of proper wound care even during long hours of travel.

During an episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Marnie Simpson expressed her intent to leave the program due to a challenging high-altitude task that she faced.

The reality TV personality from Geordie Shore, aged 32, expressed her exhaustion by stating that she felt she had “no energy left” following the demanding challenge which required her to rappel down a 300-foot dam at high speed.

Viewers criticized her for complaining excessively during the episode, and the instructor claimed she shed “fake” tears and demonstrated a lack of respect.

Following John Barrowman’s departure, it happened that he vomited during the initial challenge shortly after only 32 minutes on the show.

After returning to their shared space following the task, Marnie expressed her feelings as follows: “I feel utterly drained, and I’m in such agony. How can I communicate that I wish to return home?

A significant number of viewers expressed their frustration with Marnie’s behavior, commenting: “Marnie should tone down her attitude… it could lead to her downfall #SASWhoDaresWins.

‘Marnie is whinging with a smirk on her face. Wanting a bit of attention #SASWhoDaresWins.’,

‘Well go then Marnie you won’t be missed #SASWhoDaresWins.’,

‘Why Marnie signed up for this is beyond me #SASWhoDaresWins.’,

Is it Marnie’s belief that everyone in the SAS always uses “please” and “thank you”? That seems quite unrealistic! Let’s move on – was she surprised by anything? #SASWhoDaresWins

‘We’re all in pain listening to you moaning Marnie #SASWhoDaresWins.’,

Oh Marnie, despite not having taken a breath, you’re shouting as loud as possible and seemingly gasping for air – quite the spectacle on #CelebritySAS.

Following Rachel Johnson’s criticism of Celebrity SAS, she pointed out that contestant Marnie had visible injuries on her chest during the show.

59-year-old sister of the ex-Prime Minister Boris, who sustained a broken rib only on the second day, expressed that it was incredibly painful for her to observe Marnie finish the tasks since she was in a physically weak state.

Prior to her departure to New Zealand for the military-like training event, Marnie had recently undergone a breast lift surgery, and she was still wearing bandages from the operation.

“She had to depart from the show due to circumstances, and her injuries got contaminated. Rachel lamented, ‘If she were my child, I would never let her be in this state, absolutely not.’

In a conversation with TopMob and other media outlets, Marnie openly acknowledged, “I simply wasn’t mentally or physically prepared for it.

Rachel expressed deep concern for Marnie, as she believed it was harmful for her to be in the situation she found herself. It was painful for Rachel to watch Marnie endure what she did, knowing how delicate Marnie’s physical health is.

Marnie commented, “Rachel won my heart over. We became close. She provided a sense of security for me. Performing in the show has been something I’ve long desired. Three weeks prior to its start, I received the call that I had landed the role, and I was thrilled.

However, I recently gave birth ten months ago and my delivery was quite difficult, resulting in a challenging C-section recovery. Additionally, I underwent a breast uplift surgery, and only three weeks later, strenuous activities like boot camps are not recommended.

Initially, I believed myself to be sufficiently recovered, but in reality, that was an illusion. I had presumed the experience wouldn’t be as challenging as before. However, after making the journey, it became evident that my assumption was incorrect. My physical condition was not ideal, which is why I didn’t push myself further than I did.

Making the difficult choice to depart was worthwhile as I found myself at home with an unexpected infection in my breast, which was quite serious. Prolonging my stay might have resulted in an unpleasant situation.

As a lifestyle enthusiast looking back, I can’t help but reflect on a time when I embarked on a new season before I was truly prepared, both physically and mentally. If I could turn back the clock, I would have chosen to wait until I was ready, ensuring a more enjoyable and successful experience.

Thankfully, I made it home where I could apply the appropriate ointment. Since we frequently switched between water and land, there were no functioning showers due to being frozen, which made self-care quite challenging. Fortunately, I had no urgent requirements.

Rachel added, “I believe she shouldn’t have attended as she was still wearing her surgical bandages.

She added: ‘When I went down in the dam, I broke a rib. I had to watch Marnie go down in the dam knowing that she had open wounds on her chest and I was like, ‘What the actual f***’.

I distinctly recall witnessing her in a state of distress, and the thought that crossed my mind was, “If that were my child, there’s no chance she’d be in this situation.

2 days ago, I injured one of my ribs while descending a dam. This incident left me in a state of panic when I encountered Marnie. The situation was unexpected and required skills that had taken weeks to develop, yet we were asked to execute them immediately upon receiving verbal instructions.

‘I saw a doctor, they don’t show this I’m sure, I went a couple of times because I was in such pain with it. I was dealing with a broken rib from day two. I was in so much pain and I just powered through. I was surprised a doctor would have passed Marnie to do what we had to do.’

As an overly enthusiastic fan, let me share my tale: During our global voyage, we were compelled to undergo medical examinations. Miraculously, I passed mine! However, the journey to New Zealand lasted a grueling 36 hours, and unfortunately, I didn’t change my bandage during this entire time. It seems that this prolonged travel caused irritation on my wound. To add insult to injury, it appears I violated the rule by having silicone on a fresh wound for more than the recommended six hours – I left it on for 36!

I made the scars get red and swollen. Later, appearing on the show led to an infection developing, though the long journey exacerbated the issue.

4 Channel noted: ‘The well-being and health of our contributors is our top priority, and every celebrity must adhere to stringent health and safety guidelines to confirm they’re psychologically and physically fit for the program.’

The medical team associated with the production reviewed Marnie’s case with her personal physicians, and they deemed her fit to participate based on their findings.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of hosting an engaging gathering with Bianca Gascoigne, ex-captain of England’s rugby team Chris Robshaw, TV personality Cherry Healey, former professional boxer Anthony Ogogo, comedian Shazia Mirza, Love Island alumna Georgia Harrison, and reality star Bobby Norris.

The line-up was completed by Torchwood star John Barrowman, TOWIE’s Pete Wicks, former Olympic gymnast Ellie Downie, comedian Tez Ilyas, professional basketball player and former Love Islanders Chloe Burrows and Ovie Soko, as well as World Heavyweight Champion boxer Lani Daniels.

Leading trainer Billy Billingham is back alongside his crew consisting of Jason Fox, Rudy Reyes, and Chris Oliver, with the addition of ex-Special Forces psychologist Dr. Alia Bojilova to their ranks as well.

The program features competitors subjected to persistent cold and damp conditions while completing a variety of Special Forces training drills.

Regarding the upcoming series, Billingham mentioned: “The quality we demand will remain consistently high as we move forward.

‘From the very first second, the recruits will be expected to give 100%.

‘Those who fail to comply will find themselves departing without an opportunity for explanation. Time is precious, and we won’t squander it on individuals who don’t merit our attention.’

Starting September 22nd, every Sunday and Monday at 9pm, you can catch the sixth season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4.
