2Game takes down M80 in five maps to win VCT Americas Ascension

2Game takes down M80 in five maps to win VCT Americas Ascension

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the VCT Americas Ascension 2024 Grand Final between 2Game Esports and M80 was an absolute rollercoaster ride!

2Game Esports defeated M80 in a decisive five-game series, securing their place in the Valorant Champions Tournament (VCT) via Ascension Americas 2024.

2023 and 2024’s America’s Ascension was highly anticipated for M80, who were considered strong contenders. However, they faced defeats last year against The Guard (now G2), and this year against the Brazilian team, 2Game Esports. Eventually, 2Game Esports advanced through the Upper Bracket to claim the title as the America’s Ascension Champions of VCT in 2022.

2Game will compete alongside other teams based in BR (Brazil) within the VALORANT Champions Tour, sharing the stage with LOUD, MIBR, and FURIA. For team M80, it’s another year marked by disappointment, while for 2Game, they have reached the summit of the esport scene in 2025.

2025 season’s third Ascension team has been determined for us – the Game team. Earlier, it was the turn of the EMEA team to secure their spot, and today, we found out that our CN team will also be promoted.

In the competition, M80 appeared ready and fired up. They managed to overcome All Knights in a turnaround victory during the Lower Final’s best-of-five series. The energy was clearly on their side, but unfortunately for them, the map selection didn’t play to their advantage as 2Game capitalized on their progress through the VCT Americas Ascension Upper Bracket.

2Game had a powerful start in the VCT Americas Ascension, but only just managed to advance past the Round Robin Group Stage. Their journey ended there against M80, but in the Playoffs, they have turned the tables and defeated M80 not once, but twice.

Initially, Team M80 established a 2-1 scoreline advantage, prompting a response from Team 2G. On Haven, Team 2G displayed an impressive offensive strategy. Subsequently, the competition shifted to Bind, a map that Team M80 hadn’t played in any match throughout the year. Remarkably, it was on this very same map that Team M80 suffered their defeat at the hands of The Guard during the Grand Final of 2023.

Once more, Bind’s challenges proved insurmountable for them. The substantial lead at halftime was too difficult to reverse. Ultimately, 2Game Esports capitalized on M80’s mistakes to lift the VCT Americas Ascension 2024 trophy. Qualifying for the challenging VCT Americas, they now must fight hard to maintain their position in future competitions.
