Courteney Cox reminisces over Friends on 30th anniversary and reveals if she still watches iconic sitcom

Recently, a 60-year-old actress, who graced the US Open with her radiant presence, shared some insights about a beloved show reaching a significant milestone in an interview with People magazine on Sunday. To my delight, she confessed that she still occasionally indulges in watching this classic series herself.
She found it hard to believe how quickly the show’s anniversary had come around, as it seemed like no time had passed at all.
She mentioned, “Previously, I might have expressed excitement like, ‘I can hardly wait for this month’ or ‘it seems like an eternity.’ Now, however, I wouldn’t use that phrase again.
When asked of her witty character, she quipped: ‘Monica is alive and well. Are you kidding?’
Friends premiered on September 22, 1994, and ran for 10 seasons on NBC, ending in 2004.
Cox shared screen time with Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry (from Friends).
The actress mentioned to the media outlet that even though she hasn’t watched Friends for some time, when she happens upon it, she can’t resist tuning in.
She continued: ‘That show is incredible. Every joke holds up, all the characters are just so amazing, and we [had] the best writers in the world. I’m lucky that it continues on through all the generations. And that’s very fortunate.’
When asked about a potential reboot, she shared that she finds it hard to envision it given the enduring impact the initial series left behind.
She conveyed that it’s challenging to attempt to repeat anything with this particular group, as she finds it exceptionally unique.
The program became incredibly popular and consistently topped the charts during its decade-long broadcast, and it continues to air globally through syndication.
Friends had a total of 236 episodes, and they briefly created a spin-off series centered around the character of Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, albeit it didn’t last long.
Six friends reunited following the death of Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing, in October 2023. He was 53 years old.
Courteney previously romanced Beetlejuice actor Michael Keaton from 1989 to 1995.
Later on, she tied the knot with her Scream collaborator, David Arquette, on June 12, 1999. However, they decided to go their separate ways in 2013. They were blessed with a child named Coco, who was born in 2004.
The actress has been dating singer and songwriter Johnny McDaid, 48, on and off since 2013.
