Zoe Ball breaks her silence on Radio 2 absence as she confirms she will return to breakfast show on Monday

As I read through this article, my heart goes out to Zoe Ball, who has been through more trials and tribulations than most of us could ever imagine. From losing her partner Billy Yates to suicide, to the breakdown of her marriage with Fatboy Slim, and now the loss of her mother Julia Peckham to pancreatic cancer, it seems like life just keeps throwing lemons at our dear Zoe.

Zoe Ball has broken her silence after her six week absence from BBC Radio 2.

On Sunday, the presenter announced via social media that she would be back on her main program the following morning.

Here’s my take:

Zoe posted a video of Disco Bambino’s song “Odeon (Holding On)” on Instagram, wrote “#BringIt” in the caption, and mentioned her Breakfast Show colleagues.

The BBC’s top-earning female celebrity, who brings in approximately £950,000 annually, has been missing from her prime-time radio program since August 8, causing fans to express more and more worry.

Zoe was told to ‘take all the time she needs’ following the death of her beloved mother.

However, the enigma about Zoe’s comeback persists even more profoundly due to her unaccounted-for time away, since we now know she has sold her peaceful country house.

It’s been discovered that Zoe recently changed residences, having sold her picturesque countryside house in the tranquil Sussex village of Newick, which she purchased for £2,025,000 in August 2020.

In August, it’s believed that she decided to relocate and purchased a townhouse near both Brighton and Hove. This location is conveniently close to her ex-husband DJ Norman Cook, the father of her two children, whom she separated from in 2016. They officially divorced in 2020.

Others believe that the recent change marks a fresh beginning for Zoe, who has been unattached ever since her separation from model Michael Reed approximately a year ago, following their half-decade long relationship.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can confidently share that Zoe seems to have yearned for a change in pace, opting to relocate from tranquil countryside living towards a more vibrant environment.

She’s deeply focused on transforming her home into her ideal space, spending joyfully on furniture orders and acquiring various items to achieve perfection.

It’s true that Zoe was observed at the Churchill Square shopping center in Brighton on a Wednesday, and someone who saw her shared their astonishment at the sighting.

As I went about my day, many people seemed curious about her whereabouts. Little did I know, she suddenly appeared right before me, right there in plain sight.

In spite of numerous worried posts about his missing partner online, Scott began Zoe’s show last week without making any reference to the absent team member.

Previously, he conveyed a supportive message to the celebrity during his stand-in role on August 12th, informing audience members that he had suddenly taken over the duties.

‘If your alarm clock plays Zoe at 6:30am each morning, there’s no need to panic. You haven’t overslept,’ he assured listeners, mentioning that he would be in charge for some time.

If you’ve tuned in this morning, Scott Mills will be hosting instead of Zoe for the coming weeks. He expressed that he is sending his love to Zoe, and so does the entire team.

It appears that Zoe is finding joy even during difficult moments, as her son Woody Cook shared he’s happy to see her doing so, following photographs of her being consoled by her ex-husband Norman Cook (also known as Fatboy Slim) outside a café in Hove on Thursday.

With increasing curiosity about her mysterious disappearance, Woody, the 23-year-old shared by Fatboy Slim and Zoe, has finally spoken up regarding his lack of appearance.

In his conversation exclusively with TopMob, he shared: “My mom and I usually prefer to keep our personal matters private, but I can tell you that I’ve been spending significantly more time with her lately. She has always been a pillar of support during my challenging times, and it brings me joy to see her happy now.

According to sources familiar with the matter, TopMob was granted an indefinite leave of absence by the BBC, much like how they handled her previous break in March when she had to look after her ailing mother, Julia Peckham, who unfortunately succumbed to cancer a month afterwards.

Since it’s been several weeks since Zoe was last seen, BBC managers are reportedly making every possible effort to facilitate her return to work once she feels prepared and ready.

She then returned to work for three days before leaving the show.

The BBC hasn’t provided any details about her return yet, but a representative mentioned that she would come back sometime within this month.

In my usual digital space, I’ve been remarkably silent lately, with my last Instagram post dating back to August 5th.

Back in March, I found myself temporarily stepping back from my usual routine to focus on providing support and care for a dear family member, Julia Peckham, who was bravely battling pancreatic cancer.

In the month of April, she passed away, and the host resumed work on the 13th of May last year. Previously, Miss Ball had taken a three-week break in Corfu to oversee the production of Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream, which was broadcast by rival ITV.

This year, Zoe decided to step back from her work at Radio 2 for a while, choosing instead to prioritize her family after having faced a string of hardships and sorrows.

53-year-old BBC presenter shared the news in April that her mother, Julia, had passed away following a fight against pancreatic cancer, which she was diagnosed with only a month prior.

Posting a tribute to her mother on social media, she said: ‘Sleep tight dear Mama.

I’d be happy to help!

It is the latest in a string of tragedies the beloved Radio 2 presenter has had to endure.

1) Over the past five and a half years, she’s been in a relationship with Michael Reed. Unfortunately, that bond has now ended. Back in 2015, her long-term companion, Billy Yates, tragically passed away by taking his own life in May of that year.

Following the end of her 18-year marriage to DJ Fatboy Slim (real name Normal Cook), Ms. Ball experienced Mr. Yates’ passing.
