Emily Blunt reveals daughters’ reaction to her ‘mean’ character in The Devil Wears Prada
As a dedicated follower of Emily Blunt’s career and a fan of her work in The Devil Wears Prada, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia upon hearing about the potential sequel. I remember watching that movie for the first time, marveling at Emily Charlton’s acid-tongued sassiness, and thinking, “Wow, she’s really mean!” Little did I know that Emily Blunt was just acting, and in real life, she’s as sweet as a strawberry tart.
Emily Blunt openly shared that her daughters perceived her character from The Devil Wears Prada as being rather unkind.
41-year-old British actress, last seen at the US Open spending quality time with family, shared with Page Six that her children Hazel (age 10) and Violet (age 7) found her character, Emily Charlton from the 2006 hit comedy-musical, unlike their mom.
‘They thought I was the meanest person they’ve ever met,’ the actress said of their response.
Her character was a temperamental and acid-tongued assistant at fashion magazine Runway.
The Golden Globe-winning actress, who co-parents her kids with John Krasinski from “The Office”, expressed her gratitude to a media outlet for the enduring influence of the movie, which was released close to 20 years ago.
She mentioned, “It’s amazing how deeply it influences people… And I hear it referenced by others almost every week.
Blunt also shared that she and her co-stars had ‘the time of our lives’ shooting the film.
During my youth, it marked my debut in a significant film. I can still recollect my agent phoning me to discuss the movie’s opening weekend. Intriguingly, I found myself asking, “Is that impressive?” As I wasn’t entirely aware of what constituted success at the time.
“The Devil Wears Prada” outlines the tale of Andy, a graduate from Northwestern University, who unexpectedly secures a position as a junior assistant to Miranda Priestley, the influential editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine.
She strives to leverage her experiences to create a path towards superior journalism prospects, yet struggles to find her place, despite consistently exceeding expectations when faced with challenges.
A peek into Blunt’s personal life has surfaced, happening not long after it was verified that a second version of The Devil Wears Prada is being planned.
Disney has hired scriptwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who previously adapted the 2006 movie based on the 2003 book of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, as reported by Variety.
Although the original cast members haven’t been officially announced, the leaked storyline suggests a possibility of Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt reappearing in their respective roles.
The firm hasn’t decided if Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs, nor has it been determined whether other supporting actors like Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bundchen, and Tracie Thoms will return.
2006 saw the release of a movie that was influenced by the book of the same title by Weisberger, which was somewhat inspired by her experiences working under Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief at Vogue.
A few days back, Emily subtly suggested her upcoming return to the silver screen, saying to People magazine, “I’m sworn to secrecy; I can’t reveal anything.
‘I just wanna get some good eye makeup going again. I’m hoping for that,’ she said.
