NASCAR driver returning for first race in 11 weeks at Bristol

As a hardcore NASCAR enthusiast with years of trackside experiences under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia whenever MBM Motorsports rolls into town. Their unpredictable nature and the constant shuffle of drivers behind the wheel of the No. 66 Ford make them the wild card of every race they enter.

Throughout the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, MBM Motorsports has made occasional appearances on the track following their absence in the entire 2023 season. This year, six different drivers have taken turns driving the No. 66 Ford for them.

The Carl Long-owned team have not appeared in a Cup Series race since the regular season finale at Darlington Raceway three weekends ago, but they are set to return for the first of their five scheduled playoff starts in this Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Josh Bilicki, who made a single appearance in the 2024 Cup Series during early July at the Chicago Street Course for his team, will pilot the No. 66 Ford in the Saturday night race that takes place on the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilometer) high-banked oval in Bristol, Tennessee.

Bilicki’s 28th place finish in Chicago is the team’s best finish of the 2024 season.

Out of the six drivers racing for MBM Motorsports this season, only B.J. McLeod and Timmy Hill have participated in two races. The rest – Bilicki, David Starr, Chad Finchum, and Parker Retzlaff – have all taken part in one race each.

Additionally, our team has scheduled their participation in several upcoming races. These include the Kansas Speedway race on Sunday, September 29, the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval on Sunday, October 13, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway event on Sunday, October 20, and the Phoenix Raceway event on Sunday, November 10.

Despite no drivers being officially announced yet for any races this year, the team’s plans have been fluid, with several changes occurring throughout 2024. A notable example is their withdrawal of car No. 66 from Iowa Speedway. It remains uncertain when and where they will reappear before the season ends.

Don’t miss out on the live telecast of the Bass Pro Shops Night Race this Saturday, September 21, at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network! If you haven’t signed up for FuboTV yet, now is your chance to start a free trial and catch all the action!
