Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet says living outside LA highlighted how fake people in Hollywood are
As a devoted fan of Eric Stonestreet, I can’t help but admire his down-to-earth approach to life and Hollywood. Born and raised in Kansas City, Eric’s roots run deep, and it’s refreshing to see him cherishing those authentic, real moments that he finds there, far from the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown.
Actor Eric Stonestreet, known for his role in Modern Family, shared that he now calls Kansas City home, preferring genuine interactions with locals over the bustle of Hollywood.
53-year-old actor shared his insights about Hollywood, stating that residing away from it gave him a clear perspective on its pros and cons. He expressed these thoughts during the latest installment of In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
Eric explained: ‘It underscores all the fantastic aspects of our enterprise, specifically the entertainment industry.’
‘And it highlights all the douchebaggery of our business. It amplifies it,’ he continued.
Since I’m present, I interact with locals, experience genuine, authentic moments, and later find myself in a store. Contrastingly, when I’m in Hollywood, I’m often reminded of certain types of individuals I encounter.
Eric hails from Kansas City where he spent his formative years and attended Kansas State University. Later on, he relocated to Los Angeles to kick-start his acting journey.
In a similar vein, he also pointed out the exciting aspects, much like an actor might say: “Then you’re given a platter of fruit on a grand stand. Shall I offer you some lychee and kiwi, sir? It’s just like experiencing the thrill of Hollywood… it’s quite enjoyable. It makes everything even more exhilarating. It’s as if departing from [Kansas City] and returning to do something is almost more captivating than what we experienced while living there.
Eric gained widespread recognition as Cameron Tucker on the hit show Modern Family, sharing screen time with Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Ty Burrell.
He received two Emmy Awards for his performance in Modern Family.
He played the character for 11 seasons, until the show ended in 2020.

His straightforward viewpoint about Hollywood emerged mere months following podcast host Taylor Strecker, on her show “Taste of Taylor,” as labeled by Page Six, branding him as the most unfavorable guest she has ever welcomed.
She revealed her thoughts on the June 25 Amazon Live she appeared on with Paige DeSorbo.
Taylor commented, “He hails from Modern Family, and he’s the cheerful, plump, amusing, sweet character. Could there be anyone else? Absolutely not! Not nasty!
Instead of discussing Modern Family, as she had anticipated, it turned out that he had formed a partnership with Pepto-Bismol, and he wanted to share details about this new collaboration instead.
During their chat, Eric asked her (apparently), “When might we discuss Pepto-Bismol?
She shared, “I mentioned that I have hemorrhoids and jokingly referred to myself as the ‘queen of diarrhea.’ I also expressed my fondness for Pepto-Bismol. Our conversation can be about anything you like. In response, he quipped, and I’m paraphrasing here, “It seems someone didn’t study enough.” She repeated this statement to me.
After that, she playfully said to him: ‘I doubt you’ll visit my home and address my parents as yours. That seems unlikely.’
Taylor expressed her frustration towards Eric by saying, “I apologize, but let me make this clear: I am not working for Pepto-Bismol. It’s your task to sort it out, not mine.” In this paraphrase, the original message is conveyed in a more casual and direct manner, while still maintaining clarity and readability.
