Earlier this year, it was announced that the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” would continue with both a second and third season. Now, Netflix has made it official that the filming for season 2 has started.
At Netflix’s Geeked Week, a new character named Toph Beifong, an Earthbender, was grandly presented in a preview video for the upcoming show.
As I watch the video, though Toph’s face remains hidden, it’s clear she’s got control over the earth beneath us. Her powerful stomp sends a wave through the dirt, a testament to her Earthbending prowess, only someone like her can pull that off.
As reported by Deadline, Netflix recently issued an open invitation for auditions, specifically targeting visually impaired Asian actors to vie for the role of a blind teenage character. It has been disclosed that Miya Cech, who starred in Surfside Girls, will embody this iconic part.
Toph was characterized as bold, self-assured, and straightforward in the casting announcement. Most of her life, her power and exceptional earthbending abilities have been restrained, but now, as the Avatar’s earthbending mentor on the run, she is finally free to showcase her true warrior spirit. This was emphasized in the description.
The show includes important characters like Aang’s friends Katara (portrayed by Kiawentiio) and Sokka (portrayed by Ian Ousley), as well as villains such as Prince Zuko (portrayed by Dallas Liu) and Fire Lord Ozai (portrayed by Daniel Dae Kim).
A release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender season two has not yet been confirmed.
