As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest addition to the Transformers franchise, ‘Transformers One‘, has truly taken me by storm. The change in voice actors for some iconic characters like Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Bumblebee, while initially jarring, has grown on me, especially with Chris Hemsworth’s deep, resonant voice bringing a new dimension to Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry adding a touch of menace as Megatron.
In a fresh retelling, “Transformers One” unveils the previously unknown background of how Optimus Prime and Megatron transitioned from being best friends to mortal adversaries. Since this tale takes place in the past, certain actors have stepped into new roles to portray these iconic characters.
Instead of Peter Cullen and Frank Welker playing the primary Autobot and Decepticon roles, we now have Chris Hemsworth giving voice to Optimus Prime and Brian Tyree Henry providing voice for Megatron (or Orion Pax and D-16, as they’re called in the movie).
In the film, it’s Sentinel Prime who could possibly puzzle you. You might remember him from the movie franchise where Leonard Nimoy lent his voice to him in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”.
In the movie “Transformers One”, Jon Hamm lends his voice to Sentinel Prime. Known for his previous work in voice acting, he has been heard in characters such as MODOK, Minions, and Shrek from “Shrek Forever After”, as well as voicing himself on shows like “Family Guy” and “American Dad!”.

In the epic saga of Transformers One, I find myself drawn to two other captivating characters – Elita-1 and none other than B-127, affectionately known as Bumblebee. Even in this adventure, he retains that irresistible charm from the previous movies.
In the latest film, the character Elita-1 is given a voice by Scarlett Johansson, while Bumblebee is voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. These roles were previously performed by Mark Ryan and Dylan O’Brien (who portrayed him in “Bumblebee”).
Previously, Elita-1 was featured in a real-life Transformers film, and it was Grey Griffin who provided her voice in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

In the first Transformers movie, some recurring characters from both the Autobot and Decepticon teams also appear, as they did in previous films.
So if you’re wondering who’s taken on the various roles for the new movie, we’re here to help:
• Steve Buscemi as Starscream
• Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion
• Isaac C Singleton Jr as Darkwing
• Jon Bailey as Soundwave
• Vanessa Liguori as Airachnid
• Jason Konopisos-Alvarez as Shockwave
• Evan Michael Lee as Jazz
Transformers One is out now in US cinemas and is released in UK cinemas on October 11.
