Did King Charles’s former right-hand man Michael Fawcett sell £1.3million home to pay off son’s £700,000 debts?
As a seasoned journalist with years of experience under my belt, I must say that it is heartening to see institutions taking steps towards addressing gender inequality. The fact that women candidates are being considered first in certain competitions shows progress and a commitment to change.
Prior to holding the position as CEO at The Prince’s Foundation, and eventually becoming one of the future King Charles’s close advisors, Michael Fawcett earned additional income during his time as a footman at Buckingham Palace on weekends, working part-time at a men’s clothing store.
It is likely that Fawcett was deeply concerned about his children, Oliver and Emily, experiencing the same hardships he had faced. As a result, he named them as directors of his events company when they were only 22 and 24 years old, respectively, to give them an early start in business.
Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as expected, and I regretfully have to share some unfortunate news about Oliver. At 28 years old, he has experienced a significant setback. Only two years after becoming the major shareholder and sole director of 303 London Ltd, a company specializing in ‘television program production activities’, he’s been forced to file for liquidation due to accumulated debts totaling close to £700,000.
Oh boy, I’m absolutely drowning in debt! Here I am, a fan who’s head over heels for this company, but it seems we’ve got a mountain of financial troubles ahead. We owe an enormous sum of £550,000 to HM Revenue & Customs, and there’s another £13,000 in overdue corporation tax. On top of that, banks and other institutions are waiting for a whopping £110,000, while our dear landlord is owed a not-so-small £12,000. It’s a tough time, folks, but I believe in the power of passion and resilience!
Oliver seemed to be following closely behind his father, who was moving swiftly as a top executive earning £95,000 per year at The Prince’s Foundation. Although he couldn’t instantly match his father’s income, Oliver’s own company received payments from the foundation – totaling £16,000 in 2016, £1,770 in 2017, and £400 in 2018. These payments were for creating short films about events at Dumfries House, a stunning Palladian mansion in Ayrshire that the King preserved as a national treasure.
Back then, those magnificent times feel like they happened long ago. In 2021, Michael, known for his role in providing toothpaste to the royal family after Prince Charles had an accident playing polo, stepped down from the foundation due to accusations that he attempted to arrange British citizenship and a knighthood for a wealthy Saudi businessman.
Lately, I mentioned that Michael, aged 61, along with his spouse Debbie, a former maid at Buckingham Palace, successfully sold their five-bedroom house, situated only a mile from Hampton Court, for approximately £1.3 million. This property was purchased by them in 2003 for £490,000. Interestingly, it was the same year that Fawcett parted ways with the Royal Household after an investigation led by Michael Peat (later Sir Michael), who had served as Charles’s Private Secretary since the previous year.
The investigation exonerated Fawcett from any wrongdoing, however, it was discovered that he had received many gifts during his tenure as a royal servant.
After a brief pause, the tenacious Fawcett resumed work with Charles, this time as a freelancer.
I have confidence that Oliver will exhibit the same tenacity he’s known for. He chose not to discuss his present challenges, but may find solace knowing that after selling their house, his parents made a substantial profit of £800,000 on the deal and used it to buy a bungalow eight miles away – a sum ample enough to settle what 303 owes to HMRC.

Apart from staying there on election night, it’s also been reported that he has held fundraising events at this penthouse. This could potentially be why he listed £20,400 as unspecified ‘accommodation’ expenses in his Register of Members’ Interests.

The executive board of the club granted membership to Dame Judi Dench and Sian Phillips as ‘prominent’ members. However, their official publication has expressed concerns that some women feel all female applicants are given ‘preferential, expedited consideration’.
It is indicated that women will undergo the same procedure as men. Importantly, candidates do not submit applications nor publicly express their intention to join through the media.
