Netflix’s new horror series, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, is a sensation.

The upcoming series, “Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen,” from the creators of “Stranger Things” (Matt and Ross Duffer), centers around Rachel, played by Camila Morrone, as she gets ready to marry Nicky Cunningham (Adam DiMarco). As the wedding approaches, Rachel starts to feel increasingly paranoid and frightened while getting to know Nicky’s family, and she begins to discover unsettling secrets.

The new horror series, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, quickly became popular after premiering on Netflix on March 26th. It’s currently the fourth most-watched series on the platform and has earned critical acclaim, boasting an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Created by Haley Z. Boston, the show has quickly become a streaming hit.

Dani Kessel Odom from ScreenRant called the limited series “nearly perfect,” praising its ability to use horror elements in a fresh and engaging way. Despite recent criticism of the Duffer Brothers following the last season of their hit Netflix show, Stranger Things, the series is generally receiving positive reviews.

According to creator, showrunner, and executive producer Boston, the series examines the frightening side of getting married. She explains it as a horror take on a woman’s journey into becoming a wife, similar to how Carrie explores a girl’s coming-of-age and Rosemary’s Baby tackles the horrors of motherhood. Boston also shared that she’s grown to appreciate horror as a genre because it lets creators delve into difficult emotions and give voice to our deepest fears.

Following the success of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers created Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, their first project that moves away from the town of Hawkins. They produced the series through their production company, Upside Down Pictures – a clear nod to the show that made them famous. Even though the series received some negative feedback, the Duffer Brothers plan to revisit Hawkins with a Stranger Things spin-off called Tales From ’85.
