Lala Kent details terrifying moment newborn baby Sosa suffered serious health scare after quick delivery
As a dedicated follower of Lala Kent‘s journey, I find myself in awe of her strength and resilience, especially after hearing the details of her recent birth story. The fast-paced delivery and subsequent complications with Sosa must have been a rollercoaster of emotions for her. Yet, she handled it all with grace and a calm demeanor that speaks volumes about her character.
Lala Kent recently revealed insights about the arrival of her second daughter, Sosa, whom she welcomed earlier this month.
34-year-old Instagram celebrity from Vanderpump Rules shared news of her newborn daughter’s birth on September 9 through an Instagram post. She labeled the baby as ‘Sosa Kent’ in the caption, accompanied by a monochrome photo displaying the infant’s feet.
In the most recent installment of her podcast, Give Them Lala, the celebrity disclosed that the swift birth of the child caused the infant to temporarily turn purple at a certain moment.
As I was about to deliver for the next-to-last time, my obstetrician suddenly stood up quite quickly, and he seemed focused on the monitor, she remembered.
She commented, “He’s giving significant glances towards the nurse who is reading materials to him, which appear to be beyond my comprehension as I’m not a medical professional. He seems anxious too.
Kent shared that he had asked his physician if everything was alright, to which the healthcare provider responded, ‘Absolutely, I simply want you to continue making an effort.’
She later learned that ‘the [umbilical] cord was wrapped around [Sosa’s] neck a couple of times.’
In the aftermath of the incident, Lala’s doctor maintained a composed demeanor and concealed his concern from her.
‘She brought the baby over and placed her on me so I could hug her – or comfort my child as you know – but the way the nurse was handling the baby… She cried only once and then stopped.’
The mother explained, “My hands are so cold, I don’t dare touch her to avoid startling her.
After discovering that the newborn had ingested amniotic fluid, the nurses proceeded to gently massage her chest and use a device to extract fluid from her mouth instead.
She told her audience, ‘Mom gave birth swiftly, which was advantageous since I didn’t need to push much, however, due to the rapid delivery, she ended up ingesting a significant amount of amniotic fluid.’
Lala, originally named Lauren, mentioned that Sosa was expelling so much liquid that she was throwing up everything she ate.
That’s when the baby ‘turned purple’ and ‘freaked out’ the nurse, prompting a call for backup.
Kent went on saying, “Afterward, they summon an expert, and they express concern, ‘We need a surgeon to examine this case as what happened isn’t typical. Initially, we extracted 10 milliliters of amniotic fluid from her stomach, then followed by another 8 milliliters, and so on.’
As she shared the grim details, I could feel my heart racing. She explained, “And they told us, ‘Now we’re draining it from the nose and it won’t stop.’ They continued, ‘Either a pediatric surgeon will need to handle this or we want to keep her in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.’
Lala started questioning herself about the frightening incident, pondering if there were any differences in her approach during her first and second pregnancies. Besides sharing a three-year-old daughter named Ocean, Lala has an ex-fiancé, Randall Emmett.
The media personality said she was ‘beside myself’ and asked, ‘What the f**k?’
I began to tear up, and they said, “Don’t worry, you didn’t do anything wrong during your pregnancy. We’re simply a bit puzzled.
Ultimately, she stated that her daughter turned out to be healthy. Two weeks following the birth, the newly-minted mother of two was seen having lunch with Sosa in Sherman Oaks.
Two weeks ago, on September 3rd, I introduced my newborn daughter, Sosa Kent, to the world. As I’ve shared before, this moment was a long-held dream of mine, and it finally became reality at 10:13 PM.
