Only Murders boss teases “more to come” from returning star

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more than his fair share of TV shows, I can confidently say that Only Murders in the Building is one of the most intriguing and entertaining series out there. The latest episode left me utterly bewildered, but in the best possible way!

Only Murders in the Building season 4 spoilers follow.

Fans of “Only Murders in the Building” did a doubletake when a familiar face appeared in a new character in the latest episode of the series.

Showrunner John Hoffman, one of the creators along with lead actor Steve Martin, has shared his thoughts on the surprising return and offered an explanation for its fittingness within this season’s narrative. (Warning: Major spoilers follow.)

Renowned for its stellar cast, the just-renewed murder mystery series has brought back Paul Rudd for season 3 in an exciting twist.

Contrary to speculation, Ben Glenroy, Rudd’s impetuous actor character, has not been resurrected. Instead, it is his Irish stunt double, Glenn Stubbins, who encounters the beloved detective trio.

In Episode 4, ‘The Stunt Man,’ I, as an enthusiastic fan, find myself tagging along with Charles, Oliver, and Mabel on their NYC adventure to unravel the mystery surrounding Sazz’s murder. Our journey leads us to a unique stunt bar, where we encounter Glenn, a down-on-his-luck stuntman who’s been out of work since Ben’s unfortunate demise.

According to Hoffman, shared with TheWrap, “I adore Paul Rudd, he enjoys working on the show immensely, and this upcoming season revolves around stunt performers.

Last season, we experienced an episode where Ben Glenroy passed away. It’s not difficult to wonder who his stand-in was during that time. Throughout the season, however, you’ll notice multiple characters who resemble him.

It was as if someone exclaimed, “‘Wow, that’s the way! Bring him back like this!’ The similarities between the characters Charles and Sazz were delightful and fitting, creating an ideal chance for Paul to return, making it all seem beautiful and just right.

Hoffman hinted that we might still encounter Glenn Stubbins this season since his character is expected to make appearances sporadically.

The showrunner mentioned, “That character has a lot happening in future episodes as well.

In this new installment of the critically praised show, characters Charles Haden-Savage (portrayed by Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (played by Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (depicted by Selena Gomez) find themselves once more investigating a homicide within their building.

In their investigation into the demise of Charles’ lifelong friend and stand-in, Sazz Pataki (portrayed by Jane Lynch), they experience a dash of Hollywood limelight as a major production company creates a film inspired by their real-life true crime podcast.

Only Murders in the Building streams on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
