‘SNL’ announces first Season 50 hosts, musical guests: Jean Smart, Chappell Roan, more
As a longtime fan of both “Saturday Night Live” and timeless comedy, I am absolutely thrilled to witness Jean Smart grace our screens as the guest host for Season 50! With her exceptional acting prowess and charisma, she’s bound to bring an unparalleled energy to the iconic sketch show. And let’s not forget Jelly Roll, a fresh talent in the music scene, making his debut as musical guest.
After clinching her most recent Emmy award for “Hacks,” Jean Smart has been announced as the special guest host for the premiere of SNL’s 50th season, airing on NBC on September 28th.
For the very first time, the actor is set to take on hosting duties for the comedy sketch show. Accompanying her as they embark on their “SNL” debut will be musical guest Jelly Roll, a multitalented artist who blends country and hip-hop genres. His latest album, “Beautifully Broken,” is scheduled to release on October 11. (It’s worth noting that Jelly Roll previously performed at the Emmys during the tribute segment.)
Over the next few weeks, a star-studded lineup is set to grace our screens from the realms of comedy, music, and cinema. Starting on October 5, we’ll have Nate Bargatze as host, who was recently at the helm last season; Ariana Grande will follow suit on October 12, having graced us with her musical talent in the previous season. On October 19, we welcome Michael Keaton, and wrapping up before Election Day on November 4 is John Mulaney. Musical performances will feature Coldplay, Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish, and rising pop sensation Chappell Roan.
