As a dedicated follower of the cinematic world and someone who appreciates the journey of great filmmakers, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation upon hearing about Baz Luhrmann’s new project, “Jehanne d’Arc.” Having witnessed his transformative work on films like Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, Australia, and The Great Gatsby, I have no doubt that he will breathe new life into the story of Joan of Arc.

Acclaimed Australian director Baz Luhrmann is actively seeking a young talent to take on the main part in an upcoming grand production that tells the story of the legendary French hero, Joan of Arc.

62-year-old Director of the Elvis film creates buzz in Hollywood by announcing an open audition process, potentially giving an unestablished actor or actress the lead role in the upcoming hit movie named Jehanne d’Arc.

The true story of Joan of Arc centres on a peasant girl who led an army against the English in the Hundred Years War during the Middle Ages.

She was later burnt at the stake after claiming she was on a mission from God to ‘save’ France.

On Tuesday, Deadline announced that Luhrmann has circulated a casting notice, characterizing his upcoming movie as an exceptional tale of growth and maturity.

In the past, it’s widely believed that the historical figure known as Joan, who passed away around the age of 19, attracted the disapproval of religious authorities due to her habit of dressing in male attire, a practice deemed extremely offensive and disrespectful towards God during that era.

Over the past century, Joan of Arc’s story has been portrayed numerous times on screen, featuring actresses such as Ingrid Bergman from Casablanca, Milla Jovovich, and Leelee Sobieski in the role of France’s revered saint.

Details about the film’s budget haven’t been disclosed yet, however, it’s known that Baz Luhrmann has arranged for the movie to be made through Warner Bros., the same studio responsible for his successful 2022 release, Elvis.

The musical biopic of Elvis Presley grossed a massive (US) $288,670,284 globally.

After the “shack” in Gold Coast that Baz Luhrmann and his wife Catherine Martin rented during the production of Elvis, fetched a sale price of $5.72 million.

Over the past few years, the pair have been leading more independent lifestyles, as the costume designer, aged 59, resides in their Miami property, and the director has been based in New York for work.

The spacious four-bedroom, two-bathroom property was successfully sold via Amir Prestige, with its breathtaking waterfront setting being the key factor that attracted buyers.

1960s-era renovation gives this house a vintage allure, situated merely footsteps from the immaculate shores of Miami Beach.

In 2020, Baz and Catherine opted for a smaller dwelling, a shack, following their move to this region. They had previously resided in a more spacious home on the vibrant coastline.

Recently, Catherine discussed in an interview with Australia’s Wish magazine that she maintains a long-distance relationship with her spouse.

The Oscar-winning costume designer frequently talked with her over the phone while he was in New York, and she resided at a beachfront cottage on the Gold Coast.

Catherine mentioned that she found the work-life harmony appealing on the Gold Coast, as she took delight in strolling along the beach every morning and attending classes at her neighborhood Pilates studio.

In the interview, she mentioned that she had spoken with Baz earlier that day, as she was going for her Pilates class. He was admiring the weather since he’s currently in New York.

More recently, it became necessary for Baz to dispel rumors that had been circulating, as fans pointed out striking resemblances between him and the troubled marriage of Australian actor Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.

The director confirmed the pair were still very much in love.

For the past 27 years, Baz and Catherine have been a married couple, and now their children, Lilly (age 20) and William (age 18), have left the family home.

Luhrmann rosed to fame as the director of the Australian box office hit Strictly Ballroom in 1992.

After that, he added to his repertoire films such as Romeo + Juliet (1996), starring Leonardo DiCaprio; Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Australia (2008), both featuring Nicole Kidman; and The Great Gatsby (2013), which also included DiCaprio in its cast.
