In the NSW court in November 2021, charges against Adrian Araouzou for assault causing physical injury, domestic violence, and resisting arrest were dropped because a magistrate declared him innocent.
He has denied the serious allegations after producers launched a review into how he was selected to appear on the popular dating show.
The creators behind MAFS (Married at First Sight), Endemol Shine, are expressing concerns about their responsibility towards the female participant paired with him during the series.
According to Daily Mail Australia, Endemol and Nine concluded through their own investigation that Araouzou was not involved in any misconduct.
As reported by The Australian, court records indicate that police responded to a call at the Sydney residence shared by Araouzou and his companion in June 2020, following an assertion that someone had overheard shouting.
The police officers found a woman in the bathroom who was highly distressed and difficult to comfort, completely unclothed, with her face buried in her hands, showing signs of bleeding. This is what they reported.
According to the police statement, they had to use non-lethal methods to subdue the defendant due to his actions.
Several days after the incident, the woman submitted a statement to the police, stating that her injuries were caused by a seizure rather than Araouzou physically attacking her.
The hospital report from last night indicates that she wasn’t certain about the details, but she is worried that she may have been physically harmed by her partner.
Police alleged at the time of the incident, they believe the woman was ‘too afraid’ to speak.
Araouzou was found not guilty by a magistrate and cleared of any wrongdoing.
In response to a query made by The Australian on Tuesday, Araouzou firmly stated that any allegation concerning physical violence is completely untrue.
He stated that he stood trial, was declared innocent, and the request for a restraining order was rejected. Any claim to the contrary is entirely fabricated and extremely damaging to his reputation.
