As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent creating and managing my own Sim families, I must admit, hearing about The Sims movie coming to the big screen has me both thrilled and slightly skeptical. On one hand, the prospect of seeing my beloved digital world come to life on the silver screen is an exciting prospect. The Sims is officially coming to the big screen.
Indeed, you’ve understood it right! The beloved video game series, The Sims, is indeed set to have an official film release. As for specifics regarding the movie, they remain shrouded in mystery for now. However, here’s what we currently know about the forthcoming Sims movie.
The Sims is coming to the big screen in upcoming movie
Earlier today, The Sims posted on Twitter, announcing the official Sims movie.
The Sims Twitter account shared exciting news about what’s in store for The Sims’ 25th anniversary: a celebration, a movie, Creator Kits, The Sims Creator Program, and plenty of additional surprises!
Initially, it appeared as though they were attempting to downplay the information that their famous video game series was venturing into film production. Fortunately, they provided a bit more clarity on the subject.

“The Hollywood rumors are true! We’re coming to the big screen!”
Later, the game shared a link to their blog revealing a little extra detail regarding the forthcoming Sims film.
Everything we know about The Sims movie
At the moment, it’s clear that the production of The Sims movie is happening jointly with Amazon MGM Studios. This suggests that upon its release, the film is likely to debut directly on streaming platforms.
Kate Herron, known for her work on Loki, Sex Education, will helm the upcoming movie, with Briony Redman contributing as a co-writer. Redman may not be as widely recognized, but she’s made contributions to popular TV shows like Doctor Who in her writing capacity.

This upcoming movie will be jointly produced by LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment. Given the amount of effort being poured into it, Sims enthusiasts can surely look forward to it with anticipation. At this point in time, though, there hasn’t been any formal announcement regarding the cast. As things stand, the casting process might still be underway.
EA (the organization responsible for creating The Sims) announced that they would disclose additional details about the upcoming film at their 25th anniversary celebration, which is scheduled for next year.
Looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer for more information.
