Star of new Game of Thrones prequel show marks end of filming with quote from George R.R. Martin’s book

As a seasoned gamer of the realm of Westeros, I can confidently say that the anticipation for the upcoming series, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” is as palpable as the tension between Stark and Lannister. The recent wrap-up of filming has sent waves of excitement through the hearts of fans like me, who have eagerly awaited this adaptation since the first mention.

Last month concluded the broadcast of the second season for HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series, “House of the Dragon.” It is known that HBO has several spinoff series in development, but as of now, only one other one confirmed to air is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which is based on the “Dunk and Egg” novellas by George R.R. Martin.

The Dunk & Egg novellas revolve around two primary characters: a valiant knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his small squire, Egg. Filming for the first season of the show recently concluded, with actor Dexter Sol Ansell (playing Egg) sharing a farewell video from Besfast, one of the main locations for the series.

Peter Claffey shared a farewell post on his Instagram Stories, which has now vanished like mist in the wind since Instagram Stories are temporary. However, the sentiment remains online. In his parting words, Claffey echoed a quote from the Dunk and Egg novellas.

Oak and iron, has guarded me well…Our sheet has ended, Now there’s a story to tell

This phrase, often running through Dunk’s mind as he steps into perilous situations, a common occurrence in the life of a hedge knight, goes something like this: “May oak and steel protect me; if not, then I am doomed to death and damnation.” This is an expression his former mentor, Ser Arlan of Pennytree, instilled in him long ago. It resurfaces during the narrative of The Hedge Knight, the first of George R.R. Martin’s three Dunk and Egg novellas, with HBO adapting this storyline for the initial season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Additionally, there’s a recording of Claffey, towering at 6 feet 5 inches, shaking his moves at the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ post-event gathering. Make way on the dance floor!

I am quite optimistic about “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, and it seems that the cast members are feeling the same positive energy as well. Interestingly, even George R.R. Martin, who has been somewhat critical of “House of the Dragon”, is currently very enthusiastic about this upcoming series. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific release date yet, but expect to see it on HBO and Max sometime next year.
