Reacher star Alan Ritchson’s new movie is “virtually a silent film”

As a fan who’s always craved for unique cinematic experiences, I can hardly contain my excitement for Alan Ritchson’s latest venture, “Motor City.” The prospect of a virtually silent film with only five lines of dialogue, set against the gritty backdrop of 1970s Detroit, has me intrigued.

In the filming of his upcoming movie, Motor City, Alan Ritchson as Reacher didn’t need to be concerned with memorizing his lines.

1970s Detroit serves as the backdrop for this raw-edged film, where freshly-released John Miller (portrayed by Ritchson) embarks on a quest for vengeance after being wrongfully imprisoned. Yet, as hinted by star Ben Foster of Motor City, audiences should brace themselves for an unconventional storytelling approach.

In an interview with Collider, Foster mentioned that the movie, titled Motor City, will have fewer dialogues and more action-packed scenes. He even went as far as to say that the movie could be considered almost a silent film because there are only five lines of dialogue in it.

Jack White is contributing musically, so the movie feels like a blend of rock and dance, along with an element of retaliation. Essentially, it resembles a comic book storyline, making it intriguing to see how it unfolds, according to Foster.

Under the guidance of director Potsy Ponciroli, the film Motor City promises a unique fusion of different styles. According to Jon Berg, president of production at Stampede Ventures, it can be likened to the experience of watching an opera, a music video, and an action movie all rolled into one.

In the absence of much dialogue, Berg pointed out that non-verbal cues significantly contribute to the film’s storytelling.

1) “He stated that emotions can be expressed without the need for language, focusing instead on the actors’ performances. Potsy’s concept for the movie is outstanding – fast-paced camera work, great music, classic muscle cars, and an intense soundtrack enhancing the thrilling action scenes.

In the interview, Foster commended Ritchson for his ambitious attitude. Jokingly, he remarked about Ritchson, “He’s quite tall, muscular, and good-looking,” referring to his co-star. “He’s excellent in movement. I believe he yearns to delve deeper or explore different types of roles than he has so far, and that’s exciting.

Reacher is streaming on Prime Video.
