Tennis world rocked by shock split between Aussie star and his Melbourne model girlfriend

As someone who has spent years following the tumultuous lives of tennis players and their entourage, I must say the latest breakup between Thanasi Kokkinakis and Hannah Dal Sasso comes as no surprise. Long-distance relationships are tough, especially when one partner is globe-trotting for a career in tennis.

A prominent Australian tennis player has ended his relationship with his model partner from Melbourne, following just 18 months as a couple.

Glamour couple Thanasi Kokkinakis and Hannah Dal Sasso quietly called it quits recently when they stopped following each other on Instagram.

For about a year and a half, they were together, but due to the demands of his tennis profession, the athlete, aged 28, frequently had to travel. Thus, they managed to keep their relationship going from afar.

Hannah the influencer was spotted with Thanasi in July, during Wimbledon, and joined him for a portion of the U.S. tournament circuit’s travel schedule.

It appears that the couple has decided to end their relationship, having first been seen together at Glamour on the Grid event in Melbourne back in March.

Hannah, the proprietor of Styled by Mim – a designer clothing rental service – mentioned that she first encountered Thanasi a few months back, and since then, they have been on a short journey together.

In May of this year, she openly expressed her dislike for the term “WAG,” which stands for wives and girlfriends of professional sports players.

Instead of being recognized as somebody’s companion, the Melbourne “It Girl” chose to establish herself based on her unique qualities and achievements.

She pointed out that in football, there are numerous female partners who are collectively referred to as WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends), but this term isn’t commonly used in tennis, as there are fewer partners visible in the sport.

‘I like having my own name and not being someone else’s partner.’

Additionally, Hannah shared her thoughts about the hurdles faced when keeping a long-distance romance going, since Thanasi is constantly traveling for his tennis commitments, with The Herald Sun.

I’ve spent a lovely month with him, and now I’m already feeling the separation pangs. Long-distance relationships are tough indeed.” – Hannah

‘Thanasi is really dedicated to his tennis and he’s putting everything into it and I’m so proud of him.’

In May, Thanasi honored Hannah following his initial victory at the French Open, acknowledging that she might have been his very first girlfriend.

He mentioned, ‘I tend to develop gradually rather than quickly, which is why I’ve given it a try, but there are certainly difficulties associated with that approach. However, she’s been wonderful.’

Speculation about a potential separation within the couple arose towards the end of last year when Thanasi was seen on the celebrity dating app, Raya. However, it seemed they reconciled before the commencement of Wimbledon.

In just a few short days, Thanasi was noticed at the debut of Piper-Heidsieck’s Summer of Tennis in Melbourne, but his model partner was not present with him.

Since our last encounter back in June last year, during our mutual outing with friends Nick Kyrgios and his partner Costeen Hatzi, it appears we haven’t been snapped together for a photo.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Thanasi and Hanna for comment.
