On the vibrant Stellar Podcast, “Something To Talk About,” I found myself passionately discussing my comedy performance. The backlash, I believed, stemmed not from a place of constructive criticism, but rather a resistance to fresh, innovative thoughts. I couldn’t help but label this response as utterly peculiar.

Is there a possibility that the podcast episode was named, “Discussing with the individual often accused of permanently altering television news?” (or perhaps, “Discussing the impact on TV news of the person frequently labeled as its ruin?”)

‘I think that’s fair,’ Humphries said. 

I think that’s absolutely true.’

I was quite surprised as I had been on the ABC’s prime-time news program at 7.30 for five years, and it’s hardly ever known for having a comedic segment.

It seems that many individuals hold quite passionate opinions regarding the evening news at six, and they feel it’s crucial to protect its credibility.

He mentioned that his segment was broadcast during the final three minutes of the workweek, just prior to Better Homes and Gardens.

Humphries pointed out that a benefit of labeling his news segment as “The 6.57 pm News” is that those who dislike his humor can easily predict when to turn it off.

Humphries prefers to disregard the criticism and concentrate solely on his tasks, ensuring it doesn’t divert him from what matters most.

In the podcast Humphries said he wonders where the hostility to new ideas comes from.

He said this hostility doesn’t encourage creativity, making people anxious and nervous about trying something different.

Humphries has mentioned that he’s been winning over fans globally through social media, following his satirical take-down of Donald Trump during a recent broadcast.

‘I’m going to sound like an old man when I say this, but I’m blowing up on TikTok.’

It appears that our latest segment is almost reaching a million views, possibly due to the fact that many Americans seem to have strong opinions against Donald Trump.

‘And so that segment’s doing all right.’

‘Better than The Project,’ was another comment.

As for the backlash, Humphries previously said he is trying to take it all in his stride.

Among the things people have said about me that I still remember vividly, the comment that has left an indelible mark is, ‘I resemble a malfunctioning Ken Doll.’
