Ines Basic recently shared a surprising story about unexpectedly running into Sam Ball long after their affair was exposed on the reality show Married At First Sight.

The 35-year-old reality star recently told Daily Mail about an uncomfortable encounter she had with an ex-boyfriend while shopping at the mall.

‘I saw him actually at the shopping centre, maybe late last year,’ she said.

I was shopping for makeup in Mecca when some women pointed out a guy I’d been with. I asked which one they meant, and they said, “The one you saw on TV.”

Ines said she was shocked when she realized it was Sam, since she hadn’t seen him in six years.

She said she was shocked to see him, explaining it had been years – probably since a photoshoot they did for Woman’s Day around 2019.

She mentioned Sam was with a woman she thought was his girlfriend, and things became noticeably awkward when they made eye contact.

She explained that when they met, they both felt awkward and unsure of how to act around each other.

Ines quickly left the store, but the uncomfortable situation wasn’t over yet.

I was leaving the shopping centre and heading to my car when I stopped at Cotton On to try on some sunglasses, she explained.

‘I look in the mirror, he’s behind me.’

Although surprised to see Sam again, Ines pointed out that something good did come from their meeting.

I was leaving the store and nearly bumped into him! And his girlfriend was right there too. Honestly, it was just the most awkward moment ever.

Okay, so he glanced at me and I totally returned the smile. It was my little signal, you know? Like, none of the craziness matters, just this moment, just us. I wanted him to know I wasn’t holding onto any of the past stuff.

During the interview, Ines shared that she received harsh online criticism from viewers. The negativity became so intense that Channel Nine had to provide her with security to ensure her safety when attending events after filming wrapped up.

She explained that she received a lot of hateful and racist online comments after arriving as a refugee.

‘I got trolled so hard… I actually had a personal security guard.’

She added that she felt uncomfortable having to resort to the extra safety precautions.

She said she was incredibly embarrassed and immediately knew she needed security.

Ines acknowledged the scandal was embarrassing, but insisted it didn’t represent her true character.

Looking back, I realize how over-the-top I used to be. At the time, I thought everything was dramatic, but now I see how childish and wild it all seems.

Ines and Sam’s hidden relationship caused the biggest scandal ever seen on Married At First Sight.

Okay, so at first, everyone thought Ines would end up with Bronson, and Sam was with Elizabeth, but honestly, it was SO obvious they were meant for each other! They just clicked instantly, and it was like, forget everyone else, it was all about Ines and Sam from the moment they started talking. I knew it!
