Just days after his brother Joseph was arrested on accusations of sexually abusing a nine-year-old girl, Jason Duggar strongly criticized him.

Jason Duggar and his wife, Maddie Grace, released a statement on Thursday strongly criticizing Jason’s brother, Joseph. They described Joseph’s behavior as ‘vile’ and ‘evil’.

The couple publicly addressed the allegations against Joseph just as a sworn statement from his accuser became public, detailing what she claims were multiple instances of sexual abuse.

Jason, 25, and Maddie, 22, shared that they’ve been shocked, confused, and deeply saddened by recent events, describing the past week as incredibly difficult.

We were very upset to hear the news about my brother, but right now, we want to focus on the situation itself, not how it affects us personally, they explained.

The Duggars expressed their deep sadness and shock over a child being harmed by someone who was supposed to protect them, calling it an unimaginable tragedy.

Jason and Maddie expressed their anger over the situation and said they are hoping for justice, both through prayer and the legal system.

Jason continued, explaining that Maddie and he have always cared deeply about protecting those who are vulnerable, and they always will. He added that the idea of someone misusing their power to harass others is truly awful.

They ended their statement by requesting prayers for the person who came forward with what happened, acknowledging the courage it took to share their experience. They also asked for prayers for the victim’s family, especially his children, who are now facing the devastating loss of a father and a vital spiritual guide.

‘We stand with innocent children. Always,’ the couple wrote, emphasizing the last word.

Thirty-one-year-old Joseph was arrested last Wednesday in Tontitown, Arkansas. He’s accused of sexually touching a nine-year-old girl in Florida.

Joseph’s wife, 27-year-old Kendra, was arrested Friday in Tontitown and charged with endangering the welfare of four children and falsely imprisoning them. Joseph is now facing the exact same charges.

Kendra was released on bail approximately an hour and a half after being booked, and Joseph has agreed to be sent to Florida to face charges, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.

Okay, so I’ve been following this so closely, and new stuff just dropped. Apparently, the girl—she’s only 14 now, can you believe it?—her dad says she went through something awful when she was just nine. He claims there were ‘several incidents of sexual abuse’ while they were on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. I saw it in an affidavit the Daily Mail got their hands on, and honestly, it’s just heartbreaking. It adds a whole other layer to everything, and I just feel terrible for her and her family.

When Joseph and Kendra took their Florida vacation, they already had two children and Kendra was expecting their third.

According to a detective’s affidavit, Joseph’s accuser said that during their Florida vacation, she would sit on his lap and he would hold her close with his arms.

According to the girl’s statement in the legal document, Joseph acted differently as the holiday went on.

Okay, so the papers say Joseph asked her to sit next to him on the couch – can you believe it?! Then, get this, he apparently threw a blanket over them both! I’ve read the affidavit like a million times, and it’s just… everything about that moment! It’s all in there, how he wanted her close, and the blanket… it’s just so him.

According to the document, after restraining the victim, the defendant would lift their dress and touch their thighs.

The accuser stated that during these events, Joseph’s hand brushed against her vaginal area and was even outside of her underwear, which she said happened multiple times, leaving her feeling confused and uncomfortable.

According to court documents, the person who accused Joseph stated that Joseph later apologized to the victim and after that, the incidents ceased.

Following the girl’s interview with the Arkansas detective, Florida Deputy Sheriff Darrell Norris – the officer who prepared the legal document – asked both the detective and the girl’s father to contact Joseph, hoping to get him to confess.

According to the sworn statement, Joseph confessed during the phone call that he touched the victim through her clothes and acknowledged his motives were inappropriate.

After a judge approved a sworn statement detailing a phone conversation, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida received a warrant for an arrest, officials said.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office forwarded the arrest warrant to Arkansas authorities, which resulted in Joseph being arrested in Tontitown.

Last week, authorities arrested him in Lynn Haven, Florida, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor, according to a statement from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

A Tontitown, Arkansas police investigator contacted the BCSO about a report of sexual abuse that happened in the past.

According to police, a 14-year-old girl reported that Duggar was involved in several inappropriate incidents about five years ago.

Officials stated the incidents reportedly happened in 2020, when the victim was nine years old and vacationing with her family in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The former star of 19 Kids and Counting is now accused of four counts each of putting a child in danger and unlawfully restricting a child’s freedom, according to the Tontitown Police Department. TMZ first reported the new charges.

Sources say the new legal issues Duggar and Kendra are facing in Arkansas are separate from his existing case in Florida.

He is being held in Arkansas as he awaits extradition back to Florida.

Since his arrest, some family members have spoken out, including his brother Josh, who is currently in prison for 12 years due to possessing child pornography.

His attorney told the Daily Mail: ‘Josh understands the stigma of being accused.

He’s deeply affected by the devastating impact false accusations can have on someone’s life. He also knows how easily a person can be targeted and misrepresented by the media, turning facts into exaggerated stories.

The lawyer stated the brothers don’t talk often, but Josh is hoping for the best for his brother and is praying for him during this challenging period.

His sister, Jill, also shared her thoughts in a post on the family blog she co-manages with her husband, Derick Dillard.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Fayetteville, Arkansas, published Duggar’s booking photo on Wednesday night.

I couldn’t help but notice how different he looked. He had a really full beard and a completely serious, almost unreadable expression. It was striking, especially when I remembered his brother Josh’s mugshot from 2021 – Josh was all smiles in that one, and both photos were taken in Washington County. The contrast was just really noticeable.

The person who reported the incidents said their family was staying at a house on Danny Drive when it happened.

According to the BCSO, Joseph Duggar repeatedly asked a female to sit on his lap, and his actions became more insistent throughout the vacation.

In a separate instance, Joseph asked the victim to sit beside him on the couch and covered her with a blanket, then rubbed his hands on her thighs.

‘During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals.’

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Duggar apologized to the person who reported the incidents, and they stopped happening after that.

On Tuesday, the father of the person who made the allegations spoke with Joseph Duggar. According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Duggar admitted to what he did in front of the father and a detective in Tontitown.

Joseph Duggar was arrested and charged with offenses related to inappropriate behavior with a child under the age of 12. The charges allege both the harmful act itself and that it was committed by an adult.

According to an official statement filed with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and shared with People magazine, Duggar admitted to the girl’s father and a detective what happened.

BCSO Investigator Chase Norris asked both the detective and the victim’s father to contact the defendant.

According to the official document, Duggar acknowledged what he did and said he touched the person over their clothes.

At the time, the TV personality had ‘admitted his intentions were not pure.’ 

Amy Duggar, his cousin, has also spoken out about the arrest, saying she was both shocked and, unfortunately, not entirely surprised.

In a statement released Friday to People magazine, she expressed feeling deeply disturbed, saddened, and furious regarding the recent accusations against her cousin, Joseph Duggar.

Amy said her immediate concern was for the young victim, who should have been safe, cared for, and surrounded by trustworthy people.

It took incredible strength for her to speak up, particularly after keeping this burden to herself for so long. Her courage is truly deserving of recognition and respect.

Honestly, when I heard about the accusations, I was devastated for Amy. She said she was completely shocked, but also, sadly, not surprised to see another person come forward with these kinds of claims. It just proves how deeply broken the whole system is, and it’s heartbreaking to see it continue.

Amy explained that she’s made a conscious effort to change patterns of behavior in her family, both within her close circle and among extended relatives.

She expressed sympathy for the person who was harmed and also said she’s praying for Joseph’s wife, Kendra, as she deals with the situation, and for the well-being of their children. She acknowledged that not all the facts are known yet.

I hope people will truly see what’s happening, and more than anything, I pray that those responsible will face full and fair consequences.
