Netflix is removing Tom Hardy’s “brilliant” must-see drama very soon

Netflix will soon be taking down the 2011 sports drama Warrior, which features Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte, Frank Grillo, and even some actual athletes like Kurt Angle.

The story centers on two brothers who have grown apart and find themselves competing against each other in a mixed martial arts tournament, leading to both physical fights and a confrontation with their strained relationship.

The last day the film will be available to stream on Netflix is Tuesday, 14 April.

New On Netflix UK reports the movie has been brought back to the service several times in recent years, suggesting it likely won’t be gone for good.

Although it might not return to Netflix in the near future, you can currently watch Warrior for free on Rakuten TV, with ads.

Rotten Tomatoes gives the film high marks, with 84% of critics and 92% of viewers giving it a positive review, based on over 190 critic reviews and 50,000 user ratings.

We’d say that places it pretty firmly in the ‘must-see’ category.

I just finished watching Warrior, and while it doesn’t reinvent the sports movie genre, it’s seriously powerful and moving. Empire magazine called it brilliant – a family drama wrapped up in a sports story. They even compared it to The Fighter, but with more martial arts action, which is a pretty good way to put it!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gavin O’Connor’s Warrior is a powerfully engaging film. Despite its length, the movie feels fast-paced, immediately drawing the viewer in with a quietly intense beginning that builds to a thrilling climax and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

When the film first came out, Digital Spy praised it as a truly captivating and thrilling cinematic experience. They also highlighted Nick Nolte’s performance as incredibly strong and deserving of Oscar consideration.

He received nominations for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, but unfortunately didn’t win any of those honors.

You can watch Warrior on Netflix until April 14th. It’s also available to stream for free on Rakuten TV, but it will have ads.
